Our Fans Are Underwhelmed - Imagine If We Were Liverpool ? 08:44 - Jun 20 with 1088 viewsSTID2017

Liverpool have just announced the signing of Calvin Ramsey from Aberdeen for £4.2 milion.
And he has gone straight into their first team squad !
This is like us signing someone for £5k from Boreham Wood and putting him straight into the first team squad at the Liberty.
Yet some are underwhelmed when we sign players from the lower divisions ?

It's horses for courses.
I have no doubt that youngster is a brilliant player and a steal for Liverpool.
However, when Liverpool fans look at who other clubs are signing, they may be thinking why are Liverpool shopping in the ( comparative ) bargain basement ?
Same as some of our fans questioning how good a player from League One or Two ( or lower ) can be, even though we have signed many players from lower leagues in the past who have gone on to excel for us ?

Vetch has had an out and out grudge against Martin, from the day he walked in through the door.

99% of posters have been excited by the signing of Darling on here.

I'm genuinely looking forward to the season and with another couple of additions I think we will be challenging top 7

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

I have no grudge and my criticism did not start from the moment he was appointed.

My Comments on this thread are not even related to Darling...he may prove to be a great signing...time will tell will make judgement then.....

Last seasons squad if properly managed was capable of top 7 or better...I hope you are right but I am not convinced by Martins ability at all

Its amazing how an ex defender cannot set up his defence .....you would think that would be his strong point

No, but when I pointed out he scored 10 goals last season, your immediate response was it was league 1.

The boy has an eye for goal, with the right service I can't see any reason why he won't score in the championship.

A genuine exciting signing

Haven’t they broke the club record payment on the Portuguese player? Diaz wasn’t a bad signing in Jan either.

With the right service, is Grimes still taking our free kicks and corners?

Liverpools scouting and recruitment network for me is the best in the world.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

You're confusing vetch with me although my contempt for Russ started at the Preston away game. I stand by every word.

I hope I am proved wrong.

Vetch is alright and is not deserving of pejoratives whereas I am.

We have utterly thrown all our eggs into Martin's basket without checking if the basket is safe.

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

I know Liverpool will and do spend big money.
In the past many players went to Liverpool from lower divisions.
Keegan probably the most famous.
My point isn't knocking Liverpool.
I am just saying there are those i our fanbase who still believe we should be looking to sign players from clubs higher than the divisions below us.
Even though doing just that has proven successful for many clubs and players.

Football supporters everywhere are all the same. Greedy little children demanding money be spent in the same manner as toddlers demand sweeties at supermarket checkouts.

No doubt there are Liverpool supporters utterly disgusted that this is their latest signing as opposed to M'bappe or some other such shite.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Not sure I mentioned Darling ?
Nothing strange about signing a promising 18 year old.
Just unusual to see him put straight in the first team squad in the EPL

Makes you posting this the day after we sign Darling when the vast majority of our fanbase are actually overwhelmed if anything all the more perverse!

Ok I get your point that it's not an everyday occurrence to see an 18yr old in a PL squad (although we still don't actually know how much he'll play) but I still don't see the comparison to our situation. As I say, just a bit strange.
