Anyone else find him impossible to listen to? Something about how he talks and what he focusses on really grates on me.
Always on the defensive, everything he says seems to be constructed around “don’t judge our performance”, whether he is talking about the age of our team, our budget, the work in progress… or last season being the lack of pre season and the transition.
Everything is framed in a very secure box that he believes is not touchable for questioning or up for criticism. It’s such a bad environment to truly believe your system is beyond reproach - especially when it’s never succeeded. How can something evolve if it never gets questioned?
Something very arrogant about that approach, especially for a young manager with clearly so much to learn. I think the approach is holding him back as a manager and us back as a club.
The performance wasn’t too bad, there is no need to reel off a load of excuses.
Admit where we are short, admit what was done wrong and assure us you know how to fix it and quickly. These excuses that he feels are valid passes for underperformance lasting a whole season are extremely tiresome.
He needs a rather large reality check. My concern is he has surrounded himself with yes men, maybe that’s why Tate was given the elbow, a straight talker… who now finds himself looking down on Martin from the Premier League of course.

Zero culpability, arms length responsibility and an attitude that is very hard to get along with.
If only you thought critically instead of building up forum vendettas you may realise these same old voices are absolutely spot on. | |
