Not up to it is he?

Workman like but he struggles with the technical side, his positioning was diabolical as soon as he came on, asked to play the Allen role and constantly got pulled out of position instead of holding the shape.

Stood out compared to Downes last season but even more so this season, even more so after witnessing the Allen show last night.

Who is going to take him with the wages he is on?

We can thank Cooper for that.

I don't think that is fair.

I just think that that technical football isn't for him, he shows the occasional bit of skill but he needs to be doing better with his positioning and general touch and understanding of situations.

He's only going to get worse as his errors show up trying to take touches in tight situations.

Him and Bennett, questions need to be asked why they were given such contracts.

Like Bennett, he’s a good player, just doesn’t suit the way we want to play.

If he goes now or in January, he’ll be a good signing for someone.

His limitations have been highlighted badly since the start of the season and its in a team who needs to be comfortable passing and taking touches in tight situations.

It should be an eye opener why only Reading and a few league one teams have shown interested.

I don’t know, but I’d imagine that’s his wages rather than his ability. Easily good enough for the Championship. He was a regular under Potter and Cooper.

I've watched just the one live game this season, im a layman when it comes to football and even after the game had finished I didn't even know that fulton had played,

Fulton is fine. He just can't play alongside Grimes.

Been obvious since relegation that he is not good enough.

We were playing Swanselona style in the Prem, so he did not fit that.
Same today, he just cant play.

The only part of his game that is above average is his heading.

People have refused to say this openly since he arrived in 2014.
No idea why, there is a reason why he is still with us …..

no one showed any interest in Grimes either.....supposedly he was set to leave the summer after we lost the playoff final....

No, I'm saying that we can't play both of them.

I don't much care whether Grimes or Fulton is selected. They're both essentially the same player. Don't attack much. Don't create much. Can stick a foot in and give the ball to others. Our problems begin when two thirds of our midfield are the same thing.

We were doing just fine yesterday until RM stuck them both on the pitch. Allen was doing the miraculous and making Grimes look good. Ntcham was rampaging. All that stopped when Joey went off, soon followed by Oli.

Midfield is the absolute key to the way we want to play. We have to get it right. We did from the start then ballsed it up.

Grimes is decent but again it seems if he was that good then there would have been plenty of takers last summer at a reduced fee due to his wage situation.

I think it's quite common for supporters to put certain players on a pedestal and make out they are better than they are, it also goes the other way, maybe I might be a little to harsh on Fulton with that in mind 😬

They are definitely NOT the same player Dr and cannot play in the same midfield.

Simple as.

So you are saying that after the last 30 mins of last night they can play together? ..

Even after Joes performance because they are definitely not the same player.

Eh?

I'm specifically stating that they can't play together. Not sure how I can make it clearer. Pick Allen alongside either of them and there's no problem. Play them both and there is.

I'm not sure if you're claiming that Grimes and Fulton are totally different in capability. If you are then I respectfully disagree.

I agree with you i saying that they cannot play together and I am saying they are totally different in capability.

Grimes has alot more skill on the ball, albeit one foot, than fulton, fulton has little skill on the ball, he is more of a grafter of a midfielder, a fetcher and carrier, they are totally different.

Look at some of the goals Fulton has scored for the Swans and the technique involved. There is not much lacking in his capability, even if he hasn't had much chance to show it.

I could probably be talked into agreeing that Fulton is perhaps better utilised further forward, but the idea that Grimes is somehow on a different level from him skill wise just doesn't hold water.

One of them has played in the Premier League and didn't look out of place in the process. The other, to be blunt, hasn't.

Spot on Dr W

Fulton is best used in an advanced position as he was under Potter and the useless manager we had following him.

As you say he has a PL pedigree unlike Grimes

He scored those goals under a different manager than the one we have now, fulton will never fit in whilst RM is in charge and whilst grimes is a swans player.

No aspect of his game is Prem level.

Players in League 2 offer more.
