| Florida for a holiday on 13:12 - Oct 16 with 1076 views | onehunglow | Depends I’d avoid Orlando like the plague unless you re into playgrounds St Augustine on the Atlantic coast is pretty old for Fla and has a little historic interest . The Panhandle sees the Mississippi empty it’s racist Alabama ,Arkansas , etc beauts on to the Gulf of Mexico . They do nit like ladies bathing topless either . It’s nicer around Naples ,if yiu go Airbnb or Bradenton, near to St Petes area. Keys are overrated Nephew now lives in Sebring | |

| Florida for a holiday on 13:43 - Oct 16 with 1040 views | krunchykarrot | Been more times than i can remember, get cheapest fly drive and head to Gulf coast. Sarasota down to say Marco Island outstanding. To many outstanding beaches and areas to reccomend. I like staying in Longboat Key areas as you can get most places veritably easily. | | | |
| Florida for a holiday on 15:57 - Oct 16 with 1001 views | Catullus | I've been several times but not for 15 years now. I've enjoyed it immensely, stayed in Clearwater 4 times. Down on the Keys once which was very relaxing. I am an adrenalin junkie though, I loved the rollercoasters, went scuba diving too, the Florida coast is very shallow for over a mile out, saw some small sharks. Went to the waterparks, seaworld, the Everglades on an airboat. It's a great trip if you have kids or are an adrenaline junkie! | |

| Florida for a holiday on 10:41 - Oct 17 with 876 views | JACKMANANDBOY | The Gulf Coast has a variety of environments, some great quiet beaches and a number of pleasant seaside towns. You can still drive to some of the tourist hotspots if you are inclined to visit them. | |

I’m in Clearwater now, it was 89 degrees today with a nice breeze. Been here a few times in the last 15 years, always good, sea is over 80 degrees and there are plenty of nice bars you can sit on the beach whilst having a cold one. It is however very expensive this year, if you think food is expensive at home, it’s off the scale here. Two drinks are $20, which is almost £20 currently. Nowhere seems to do happy hours like they used too either when you could get a pint for 4 bucks (2.50). Very friendly locals and other Americans on holiday….ticks most boxes.

That’s extortionate pricing. In NYC last month and it was around $15 for a beer, but thou could get happy hour drinks for about $8. Their tourism will suffer.

Even breakfast for four, $50/$60….staying in a condo so we can cook at home but the cost of food is double that of home supermarkets. In saying all that I’ve waited so long to come away I couldn’t give a sh*t! 😎
| Florida for a holiday on 13:52 - Oct 18 with 633 views | controversial_jack | Florida is the state most Americans try to avoid. I don't see the attraction of the US, far more to see and do in Europe and cheaper. | | | |

We have our phones with Virgin now, which is O2, there's places inSwansea town centre where I can't get a signal, like the City Gates car park, walk in through the doors there and my signal vanishes, my work phone doesn't get a signal there either and thats Vodaphone. Anyway, back to Florida, it's not the place to go if you like visiting Castles and Cathedrals, there's very little culturally to call "USA" though if you've a mind to see some history you can get that by heading off to other areas, the original native Americans didn't leave so very much to see but it's still there if you can afford to go looking, then there's things like canoeing down the Colorado, trough the Grand canyon. There really is a lot to do because the USA offers everything from sun and sea to snow and mountains. its why so many Americans still don't have a passport, at one point, about 40 years back apparently around 90% didn't but it's down to about 40% now.

They don't have passports, because they don't know there's a world outside of the USA
| Florida for a holiday on 17:37 - Oct 20 with 432 views | Sandanista | Unless you want theme parks, then avoid Orlando. Its not really a pleasant area, but of course is entirely geared to Disney/Universal/Sea World so has a greater range of cheaper options for food/hotels. If you want the theme parks then it's the place to go. We like the theme parks, but that's personal choice. Even flights are unbelievably expensive (c£1100 each with Aer Lingus) in school holidays to MCO at present. To be honest I would go to California over Florida | | | |
