A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.
It is the World cup. All continents should have the competition at some point. Sadly a lot of the world is authoritarian and some have strict state religious laws.
Te competition cannot be based on liberal values otherwise it is not the World. You accept the world for all its shortcomings.
The LGBT issue is no big deal for me as UK and the west have only recently come to terms with LGBT issues.
However the FIFA should from now on protect all its 'stakeholders'. This includes players fan and dignitaries in 2022. It should also have included workers contractors and agencies. They would need to be FIFA approved and work to FIFA approved contracts. Failure to fulfill basic standard would lead to dismissal.
If it cost $200 billion using workers on slavery terms one hazards to guess what it would have cost if done in a properly regulated way?
I have not seen anywhere where Qatar has agree a compensation fund. for the workers familes that had relatives perishing in the Gulf sun. These are specifics highly vague ribbon wearers have no interest in. This is because the ribbons are about the individual wering it not the people who have suffered perhaps?
