We saw it on numerous occasions and without referring back to the specifics regards the likes of Michael Obafemi, Jamie Paterson and even Joel Piroe it seems there is a remedy. 0 Run rabbits run, click above.

By that I mean it seems awfully convenient and easy for some to blame the players for everything. Ask yourself, how many times in our history have we had so many players who apparently had bad attitudes? Hell, we've even got people claiming now that Whittaker was the problem and not the manager who treated him like trash.

The fact is the three Piroe, Obafemi and Paterson all had their moments ( the former only very briefly ) and was consigned to playing football with his father on the beach, we had a photo of that taken by a reader. Thing is as we have discussed before it’s the ‘way’ RM a did his development of players that was the problem for some, they couldn’t tune in to it. They couldn’t deal with managing their own personal feelings when it came to certain areas for development. This is why Martin most certainly needs allies in the Southampton dressing room. Anyway, all water under the bridge now. Forgive and forget Fawlty etc.

Nothing to forgive. If players can’t toe the line they become poisonous to others. Hopefully Paterson will have had an education from it. Piroe cottoned on pretty quick. Oba will be a problem wherever he goes.

There is an art to managing people. Some are good at it, others aren't. Some people not buying into certain processes is often a fault of the process rather than the person. Not always, but it's certainly more common than some would believe. I've seen it both ways many times over my career.

So many? I know Keith has already answered this question but how come 2 obafemi, pati and to a lesser extent piroe count as so many? And believe me whittaker was like a cry baby I've seen it with my own eyes. [Post edited 25 Jun 2023 12:57]

Yes there is an art it's being three types of coach, submissive, co operative and oppressive, I suspect Martin will have been all three with the three players I've mentioned previously, piroe came through it early, pato eventually and in the end obafemi failed. I cam tell you duff will not take any prisoners as I don't think he has a submissive side, if he does it won't be much, I can see pato struggling, I hope not as he's a great player.

He can be sometimes. Wonder if pato goes the Martin haters will concede that he was right all along. I for one want him to succeed as he can be a great player for us but I don't think he will make duffs grade as he doesn't have the stomach for a fight.

I suspect he won't have been any of them. He strikes me very much as a "my way is always best" type, as evidenced by his continued stubborn persistence with his process and ludicrous claims that the team was getting better as a result despite all the evidence to the contrary. If he came out with that nonsense in training it's not exactly a shock that some players struggled to take it on board.

It's being oppressive then, thats your opinion, I disagree as he got piroe onside early on and pato eventually.
