Depending on the size and who the offer is from!

The financial depreciation will be as follows;- £20m -- £384,000 a week. £15m -- £288,000 a week £10m -- £192,000 a week £5m -- £96,000 a week Add on to that £10,000 wages ? Somebody in the club loves the "wide of the mark" phrase. It is a well worn saying. This is kite flying in my opinion telling potential buyer last minute shenanigans will be ignored. AC has the same phone Huw had. [Post edited 31 Jul 2023 0:36]

If he decides to stay then nobody can do anything, besides makingthe best use of him we can. If an offer comes in the board will decide whether the greater value is in selling him or in seeing if he can score the goals that give us a chance of promotion. If keeping him meant promotion but he left anyway on a free, losing 20 million on him would be less than 20% of the guaranteed gain of over 100 million. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

It will be really tough to go up this season, personally anything over a £12M offer is not worth the risk.

Agreed, as I said the amount offered will be considered. If we were only offered 5 million I think I'd take the chance. Replacing a 20 goal striker is hard. Even if we get offered 20, it's still up to Piroe, he may decide to see his time out and guarantee a bigger payday.

I tend to agree, if we don't get a decent offer take a punt. But don't give him away.

That Piroe wants a "golden goodbye" pay off to leave in this window and that is a major stumbling block, pushing up our required sale price. Apparently it was agreed before the change in our administration and without it he will run the contract down.

This sounds like a very crude ruse. Everyone tells us Winter could not use the coffee machine without US blessing and now he has made big cash promises to Piroe's representative.

To a certain degree Piroe has the club over a barrel, if the club was loaded and had the cash to burn I’d stick him in the reserves and see how it went in January, but the club isn’t so it’s a different ball game. I’d be inclined to pay him off and sell on, speculate to accumulate, anything else is cutting your nose off to spite your face. The owners are burning the clock on around £10m to £15m, pay him off a million or so and get 10x back in. No brainier as far as I’m concerned - but what do I know.

The story is starting to break in some media outlets, it doesn't mean its fact though. EDIT £5M was the pay off I was told. [Post edited 31 Jul 2023 22:07]

I'm starting to think this is the way it will go. This morning I thought sell for £12M or anything better. But if the stories are true about the pay off and possibly a sell on owing its not worth it, I would rather take a punt with him now.

Struth!!!! £5m - that’s a lot of dosh, I thought he’d be angling for £1.5m to £2m. If he was looking at £5m on a transfer of £20m while obscene - its 25% is probably acceptable to a lot of people. £5m on a £12m transfer is a hard swallow, and reinforces my comment about having the club over a barrell.

‘Wide of the mark’ well spotted. I’ve seen it seven times in the last ten days. And I know someone who says it a lot. And the club want to plug leaks. 🙄

Don't discount Forest. The player Everton signed scored 3 goals last season according to Sky.

Don't discount Forest Particularly if Johnson goes to Spurs when Kane moves.

It is odd though Gyokeres goes for 20 million Sporting sell a striker with 3 senior goals for close on 20 as well. Yet no bids for a striker who has scored 40 goals in 2 seasons for a mid table team.

Some clubs want a striker who can head the ball
