I am not optimistic at all about the trip to Blackburn. The chances of winning are slim.
The team that played out a dismal match v Watford looked boring to me. 5 at the back and Grimes and Fulton had echos of Kenny Jackett. Both Grimes and Fulton are slow over the ground.
Even the front two lack charisma. Cullen and Yates are not going to get you off your seat too often without creative support.. Partino, Patterson and Ginnelly now that is a different matter. Only one of those on the pitch v Watford.
Give Congreve a run. He has a good touch and some flair.
The philosophy is suspect. Watson / Duff needs to bring some pizzaz back into this side. Fletcher, Smith and Wilson from the u21s would at least add some gas. Time for Duff o be creative and brave. A team like v Watford will have no chance of beating Blackburn. Go for it. |  |

I think there is a certain truth to the statement that the squad is "boring". A lot of competent, capable professionals for sure, but none with the X-Factor that gets bums off seats. Ginelly has it perhaps, but injury put paid to that. |  |

Congreve instead of Cullen with the loss of Key we lacked a joined up threat on Saturday down the right.
Why not play Congreve in the middle of the midfield, away from hone, after him only coming on a sub out wide and destroy his confidence by taking him off after 33mins, sorry Martin has already done that.
Or similarly as against Premiership team Brighton play two centre halves on the wrong side of the pitch again destroying young defenders confidence.
Managers try some stupid things at times but is Duff trying to protect some of our younger players by selecting players with a little more experience even though some may struggle to completed the 90 minutes?
Happy for Congreve on the right, would even suggest if fit Key in front of Ashby or Key as an alternative in the middle of midfield he looks good enough.
In all honesty don't want to see Andre back, time for younger players to step up, steep learning curve for a lot of our present players just hope they can get to grips with the Championship with the protection of the managers decisions. [Post edited 26 Oct 2023 9:18]
