The cap on bankers' bonuses is being removed as part of a post-Brexit shake-up of UK financial rules, it has been confirmed.
"The plan was announced by former chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng last year as a way of making London a more attractive place to do business."

Not sure why the Government feels the need to legislate on how private companies pay their employees other than to satisfy the public need for vengeance.
Regulate the market. Crack down on unethical or risky financial activities for sure. What a company pays its staff in bonuses should be a matter between the board of directors and their shareholders and nobody else. |  |

They shouldn't have been bailed out. They should have been left to fail and those responsible prosecuted and jailed. That's on the Government of the time.
Besides, not all banks required a bailout. Just four were in the UK, money which has already mostly been recouped. [Post edited 25 Oct 2023 12:49]

Not really convinced by the argument that this will remove pressure to raise base salaries. But whether that is right or wrong this has an awful look at this time.
