Stadium + Snoop = Millions 00:21 - Apr 6 with 2418 viewsMartyn

Given Snoops comment about getting top artists to do concerts at the stadium I suspect we are buying the stadium in the Summer

A 15000 crowd for a top concert generates 2m in revenue on ticket prices alone.

Run 5 concerts a year and thats a cool 10m plus

Although the immediate cost is high, owning a stadium transforms a football club from merely a sports team into a year-round entertainment real estate business

Given the many hints we've had from Keith it certainly looks as if they will be buying the stadium.

If Snoop does manage to get real world stars to play at the stadium then the more tickets that can be sold the better. If 15,000 is the concert capacity then even at £100 a ticket that only equates to £1.5 million. And whoever they are will probably charge £1 million to play there.

Allowing for that the Club would probably clear £1 million including food, drink and merch sales.

If the concert capacity was 25,000 then it starts to look like a real money spinner for the Club. Using the same sorts of numbers that would equate to about £2.5 million per concert.

So we're back to the bigger stadium argument. If that is the cunning plan then the cost of extending would be mostly covered.

I can't think if many football stadiums that hold several concerts in the summer unless its Wembley or similar with massive stars. Would the concert going public within travelling distance be prepared to pay £100 a ticket several times in a short period of time I'm not sure. We could probably do two, possibly three but that would be it and only if catering for a different audience.

Yep. Very much a "count your chickens before they're hatched" kind of thinking going on. It's fanciful to believe that we'd get anything like that much of the ticket sales. A fee for hosting and a few bob for catering, but the rest goes to the artist.

We may be able, with careful pitch management, to make some more cash by widening the window for events rather than just during the close season. For example, On some International breaks there can be three weeks between matches at the stadium and it's probably possible to squeeze something into one of those gaps, but we'd have to be sure that the pitch is protected. Perhaps some sort of raised floor.

If they're tying it in with more local hotel capacity (Hi Tyler!) then it's less of an issue relying on local attendees. During the Phonics gig at the Morfa in 1999 I was surrounded by Mancs.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

There'd be a totally different audience for a Snoop concert compared with Elton John or the Phonics etc etc.

And the potential of investment in a greater hotel capacity, giving a large boost to the Swansea economy would, i'd imagine, be just a part of the negotiations between the council and the Club.

I think the musical blinkers in south wales need taking off for it to be a success.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

If the proposal is to buy the ground and expand they need to have concrete plans in place for parking. The Landore park and ride is going to house the skyline. You may not use this but it will obviously have a knock on for other parking and that is without greater numbers from any extension.

There's an area of wasted land south of the stadium and I believe that is where they are looking to expand, with a fan zone and other match day experiences.
I enjoyed the pun about ''concrete'' plans!

The opening of Landore station will hopefully reduce the number of people travelling by car.
