All we need now is the confirmation of the purchase of the stadium quickly followed by the announcement of the extension to 35,000 ready for the PL as by that time, probably just post Christmas, we'll be well on the way to promotion. Sounds rather like that Heineken advert
| Swansea City submit final planning application for proposed fan zone on 17:19 - Sep 22 with 2564 views | joserobertorene | To be honest, my lack of knowledge regarding many things about the club—being from Mexico and not having visited the stadium yet—keeps me looking at this with a somewhat biased view. But judging by the comments on this post, it seems like great news. From what I understand in the statement, it’s a covered fan zone outside the stadium; over here in Mexico, there isn't really a stadium that has something like that. Generally, the bars or restaurants in the best stadiums are located inside the venue, while the older stadiums only have beer sales at the seats and small stalls around the perimeter. Likewise, very few teams have official club shops at their stadiums—you usually have to go to shopping malls instead. But without a doubt, it’s a pleasure to see them keep investing in the team. Come on you Swans! | |

Provisional opening December. I can't see it, the original plans were returned with one of the provisions no first floor access for the disabled, a standard planning regulation in this country. Unless they do ground floor first and expand later, but weatherproofing would then be an issue.

Under the new SCR rules we can now spend 85% of revenue on squad costs, the owners can spend whatever they wish on things outside of squad costs and it is investment not revenue. Our owners have very serious money and are building a sustainable project whilst the rules allow. We should be very grateful.

Could we truly seriously be on the verge of a life changing transformation of our club I will admit to getting very excited about all this If we sail through the next months fixtures then I truly believe we’re on a journey that will lift the club and put Swansea to where it should be We should be in awe of nobody We are a special club

The transformation takes time, it has been evident for coming up for two years. Posters on here, our reports over that time have all indicated progress. It doesn’t happen overnight as some would like, we have good owners, a stable look behind the scenes and a side that has good leadership. Progression isn’t always seen physically. We will have new investment I’m certain, plus if the squad needs a boost in January we will most certainly get it.

History is the past, what the club are trying to do is secure the future. Buy the stadium, no more rent to pay out of turnover. Build a fanzone and increase turnover, more money to spend on.the squad. Everything is linked.

From memory, going way back, the rent paid to the council was 10, maybe 12% of gate receipts (just gate receipts, yes?). At this rate gate income (current crowd numbers) for the season will be £8 million or so. If the rest of the season is good that will end up over £10 million. So the rent will be somewhere approaching £1.5 million. And that's assuming an average ticket price of £20.
