Looking at his slight frame,he must have been brave as feck but Jeez,he was so quick and skilful
Takes me back too, to happier times when, come the 4 nations myself, my sister and mum would be on the sofa watching Wales and all getting worked up, shouting ascreaming. JJ, JPR, Bennett, Edwards et al....a great time in Welsh rugby and many of us of a certain age are sad at his passing.
So sad to hear this news. He started up a very successful Industrial Painting and Cleaning business in the 1980's. My mate who was JJ's brother in law packed in his job to go into business with him.
I haven't seen either of them for many years, but JJ always came across as a great but straight talking man, very strong willed and opinionated, something that didn't go down well in the corridors of the WRU!
A great all round sportsman, "The Welsh Whippet" a brilliant rugby winger with a superb turn of pace who represented Wales and the British Lions. He also represented Wales as a sprinter in the Commonwealth games, and was a Welsh sprint champion.
JJ's death comes just a week after his brother Peter died.
