Alan Davies Swansea City 1992 00:05 - Nov 25 with 1316 viewsKeithHaynes

I’ve just done a podcast with an extremely decent chap called Dan Read. His podcast is all about mens health and associated illness. I’m pretty sure Alan’s last game for us was at WBA at the end of January 1992, He took his life some nine days later after dropping his young child off at school, his wife was pregnant at the time. in fact to my memory he was actually subbed for Steve Thornber to come on and score a last ten minute hat trick to win the game 2-3. Anyone else remember this game ?

The podcast will be out in December, the link etc will be featured on this website.

Here is the game to jog a few memories.
It was quite a day all round, we as away fans eventually found ourselves in the main stand with stewards who were less than well trained.

I would welcome your Alan Davies memories and recall of this game 👍

It’s a real eye opener - I wasn’t there but remember the disbelief when I saw the result coming in on final score.

Contrast this with the Laudrup inspired 3-0 at home against West Brom - if you’d have showed that game to the Swans fans back in 91/92 I wonder what their reactions would have been lol.

It’s funny how the game has come on so much since those days. It’s hard to remember a time when I one of our keepers kicked out of hand on a regular basis. We have been spoiled!

Each time I go to Bedd - au........................

I remember back in the early 80’s we drew 3-3 there, very hazy to recall.

I was there. It was absolute robbery, we weren't in the game until we scored the 1st at around 80 mins. Bonkers day. Thornber got the hat trick but it was Williams who made the difference IIRC.

I hadn't realised it was Davies' last game. Very sad what happened to him.

Very sad memories of a talented footballer. Tragic stuff.😩

I remember his great game for Man Utd in a FA Cup
Final v Brighton at Wembley, and his direct free kick goal for us on the edge of penalty area which he struck in Routledge style with the outside of his right foot approaching the ball from the right which I think was against Cardiff ?

Only an idiot would eat a turkey curry on Christmas day
