Booster jabs for house bound people 21:57 - Nov 7 with 889 viewsSirjohnalot

Anyone know how house bound people are supposed to get their booster jabs ? My dad has had his but mum can’t get out and hasn’t had any letter. Surgery aren’t interested and fob them off.

Can I respectfully ask no anti vax conspiracy replies please ?

What exactly does "house bound" mean?
Can't even be helped out in a wheel chair?

Jim got a medical sorted out by contacting his MP, that might be worth a try.

Why don’t you just look it up on a nhs website, all the answers are there.
I certainly wouldn’t leave it to getting answers from a football forum

Looking at this, it seems the gp deems who is housebound, so reading that they have deemed your father housebound, but not your mother.? Sorry I can't be of more help, but by the look you will have to keep calling the surgery.

That was my first port of call. I also rang their surgery and tried the numbers they gave me, none of whom could help. I spent a few hours on the phone in between court hearings ringing round a lot of different numbers. I appreciate a football forum isn’t the best place but I wondered if anyone was in a similar position and could help. Appreciate your reply though

Taken from Age UK

If you’re housebound and unable to attend a vaccination centre or pharmacy site, then you should contact your GP practice — they should support you in receiving a vaccination at home.

Sorry I wasn’t clear. Dad isn’t housebound and his friend took him to Margam, which m
Told is the nearest place. He didn’t want to get it till she did, but I told him he was being silly.
Surgery told me it’s nothing to do with them.
I’ll try the MP thank you

May be worth giving these a ring as well, see if they can organise something.

The Flu vaccine is being progressed via GP’s, but the Covid vaccine roll out is the responsibility of the Health Board. The JVCI have advocated the use of Pfizer and Moderna for the booster programme, difficulties with storage of the Pfizer vaccine will probably mean the Pfizer can only be administered in a “Mass Vaccination Centre.” I suspect Community nursing teams will be responsible for vaccinating those individuals who are housebound but that is going to be a long and slow process because there are logistic difficulties. There was a feature on the radio this week about this very issue (maybe Betsi Cadwalader HB) and issues regarding shelf life of vaccine in syringes, travelling time etc were major issues. My Health Board are starting to get out in to the community, but it is slow going.

Ring the ABMU line and ask what their policy and processes are.
