Scholarships are two years so there's no cut to have made. They've got another year on their youth contracts. And a few of them had guaranteed pro deals waiting for them once they'd turned 17 iirc, so more time to run beyond that.

Did suspect as he doesn't fit the Martin profile for a centre half, but made a good impression last summer in friendlies. Josh Edwards had a decent season for the u18s and was at one point a potential golden child (Tate really liked him) making his u23s debut at 15, but overshadowed now by Congreve, Cotterill, Lloyd and even Josh Carey in the midfield positions. The goalkeepers no surprise. Hansen has been poor every time I've seen him, Gould was old when he arrived, and Searle only seemed to play for his country while we had trialists coming in for the u23s. Tyler Evans is a couple of inches shy of 6' so unlikely he'll make the grade. Kian Jenkins was injured for a very long time from the beginning of his scholarship, so maybe worth a year. Talented left back. Josh Thomas also disappeared from view the last 18 months after early fanfare. Ruben Davies is a tall centre forward with a couple of u23s apps late in the season. Kai Ludvigsen a short but very pacey central defender.

Jasper suggest this is because they had 2 year scholarships.

But they could end their contracts at any point ? Or is it more complicated ?

Jack Chapman recruited the bus load from Chelsea. He's got good contacts with their academy. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

There's no real incentive for the club to kick out first year scholars. We've got them on £150/week for another year, and time served with our academy entitles us to future % and compensation later in their careers. Many will quietly start going out on trials at the beginning of next year to look for professional deals elsewhere, in readiness for their inevitable release. Decisions are often made early but rarely acted on immediately. We've paid off a few youngsters in the past but they've been on pro terms (like Akande). [Post edited 19 May 2022 15:36]

Absolute fanny merchant. Not strong enough for a 5 a side team.

Good to hear Kian Jenkins has been kept on , one of the last of the class of 2012 . Player of the year a few years back .
