| Swans U21’s win again. 21:54 - Jul 27 with 1133 views | KeithHaynes | Kyle Joseph not in the side, clue for Saturday. From the OS. Swansea City Under-21s continued their pre-season preparations with victory in an entertaining tussle with Cymru South side Briton Ferry Llansawel at Old Road. Goals from Kai Ludvigsen, Josh Thomas and Kyrell Wilson were enough to earn a win for the young Swans, with Ferry responding with two second-half goals. Corey Hurford took the captain’s armband for the fixture, leading the Swans out against his former club having joined from Ferry in January. Thomas had the chance to put Swansea ahead after 15 minutes, a great ball from Ben Lloyd putting Lincoln Mcfayden through, Mcfayden was tackled by the outrushing goalkeeper and Thomas couldn’t find the back of the net from distance on the rebound. But it would be Ludvigsen who would break the deadlock, Joel Cotterill finding the defender who buried his shot into the bottom left corner. Thomas made it two just after the break, Cotterill finding the striker in the box who powered a low shot past the goalkeeper. Ferry began to create a couple of chances of their own, and Azeem Abdulai was forced into a good block in the six-yard box to preserve the Swans’ two-goal lead. Briton Ferry would pull one back after 65 minutes, with Joe Thomas alleged to have pushed a Ferry forward in the box, resulting in a penalty that was tucked into the bottom right corner. Sam Leverett came close to restoring the Swans two-goal advantage moments later, but a last-ditch goal line clearance kept him out. However, substitute Wilson would find the Swans third goal. Tarrelle Whittaker’s low effort was picked up by the forward in the box, and he calmly took a touch before firing past the goalkeeper. Ferry pulled one back just before full-time, a cross dinked cross to the back post catching the Swans out as the home forward headed home. Swansea City: Remy Mitchell, Corey Hurford (captain), Filip Lissah, Ben Blythe, Kai Ludvigsen, Lincoln Mcfayden, Azeem Abdulai, Joel Cotterill, Tarrelle Whittaker, Ben Lloyd, Josh Thomas. Substitutes: Ben Hughes, Joe Thomas, Sam Leverett, Harry Jones, Kyrell Wilson. | |

| Swans U21’s win again. on 08:28 - Jul 28 with 893 views | Boundy | Went and and watched this with mixed feelings for me , as a Swans supporter watching the team in white whilst my grandson was wearing the opposition colours so I resisted the urge to clap when the first goal went in , decent first half with as expected the Swans having the giant share of procession but due to the efforts of a well drilled Ferry defence kept the onslaught of white from creating too many chances .Going in at half time 1 down and with a few chances of their own Ferry must have thought they had a chance of getting something but the second went in but at least that meant the game became more open which it did become. One thing of note I saw very little evidence of Martins way of playing so maybe Wrighty hasn’t really bought in to his philosophy | |

It is a shame Swansea get something working then change things all the time. O'Leary was engaged in transitioning the style to the u21 last season but moved out into the first team. Same happened to Clotet a while back and Allen was academy chief and both were moved up. All player in the academy should be playing the same way from u16 upwards. when they come to the first teams they will have been playing like this for 4-5 years.

As Jasper has said before why instill a "managers" style when he may be gone in 2 years. Martin by his own admission plays in a way no other team does....I am sure our acadmay has been training the guys to play passing football its just that they dont set up like Russ does. There was a great video clip doing the rounds of a goal which started at the back and with about 8 quick passes resulted in a goal.....no sedentary passing aound the defensive third or the centre circle

I think there is no debate about the principles Keith and surely our acadamy has been developing players to pass and play out from the back.. Martin plays an almost unique way...I think that is what the earlier poster spoke about he saw no signs of how Martin sets his team up We as a club missed a trick along time back we should have been developing coaches in the acadamy who were able to come through with the players and replace the head coach/Manager if they were poached or sacked

The video clip of us scoring last season? The passing side to side is not just for the sake of it, it's done to draw players and play pass the press......its becoming more difficult to play through as I have just typed and our goals prove that we are doing good enough with our forward play that includes the build up play. We all know where our difficulties were last season and that was defensively, sometimes it's not always down to defenders and if you spend time watching the goals we conceded, you will see the laziness from some of more attacking players who could have done better to kill the situation at source.
