I used to watch him for swans u23 the other players were always giving him the ball. Looked a confident player with or without the ball. Good to see players make it in the game apart from setting up two goals against us.

Nothing to celebrate as a Swans fan.

Hedges was let go and we retained less talented players.
A big mistake.

Always looked smooth and with good balance.
A goal threat as well.

We dont know what we are doing sometimes.
Retained Fulton and let Hedges go for nothing. Mad.

I'm sure we got around 700k for him, unless I'm thinking of someone else

It appears to have been undisclosed.

Jasper will know though.
He is all knowing.

Hedges was here when the club was a Premier League club. He may have been a tidy player, but the club would have had a big squad and couldn’t keep everyone. If the club had been a Championship club it’s a different story - he was sold for an undisclosed amount.

He has always flattered to deceive. Seen as a top prospect at Barnsley and did OK then the less intense at Aberdeen. I saw him on the TV get a beautiful hattrick v a Faroe island team in the Europa cup.

In and around the Wales team he blotted his copybook by choosing to play for Barnsley at Yeovil I think instead of arduous 4 hour flight with Wales u21 to Yerevan. Owain Jones of Swansea took his place. When Qatar comes calling this may be taken into consideration.

And yet as a Premier league club we kept Fulton, the most basic player by any measure.
And we kept others….

It was clearly the wrong call.
Hedges can play.

He performed well in the PL and even Cooper draughted him back into his side, Grimes always escapes blame because he hardly takes a risk on the pitch. The Blackburn midfield peeed all over ours and his "leadership" was again nowhere to be seen.

By far the most overrated player I've ever seen in a Swans shirt.

Each time I go to Bedd - au........................

Hindsight is a wonderful tool for those that like to attack the club. Hedges came through the system when the following formed a formidable U23 outfit - James, Bray, McBurnie, Byers, Owain Jones, Garrick, Samuel, Cullen - and our first team managers at the time were loathe to play any of them in Premier League football.

Releasing him was not a mistake as he has only done OK since then. On the fringes of the Welsh squad. Fees for his purchase have always been small. Swansea could have re signed him at any time in the last 2-3 years but chose not to. He was availabel for purchase in January 2022. Swansea had Patterson

Relegation came a bit late for a few of our youngsters like Hedges and Sheehan. We did well to get a fee for him, hasn't happened often. The right opportunities coming at the right time can make every difference to a career, and we did little to enhance the profile of our academy products while in the PL. Most had to start from scratch after being released, and that's a tough old climb if you're no longer making a living from the game.

Nice try - yes, Patterson was a success.

But for the full picture you need to include all of …. Joel Asoro, Dhanda, Byers, Barry McKay, Walsh, Fulton and various other failures.

We should have kept Hedges, no question.

Rubbish.

The only contribution tbe Academy made after Bens debut, was Connor with just 6 games left.
Thats a fact.

McBurnie and James are the notable exceptions, not the rule.
Players brought in who then made us money.

Rodon was already with us of course.

I think even you would recognise that most of the players you have listed are not Prem quality, as none of them are - you know- playing in the Prem.

I stand by the call that letting Hedges go was clearly an error. You dont have to like it.

Swansea could have bought him back for pennies over the last few years. Ws letting him go an error or not bidding for him last new year?

Agents would have been touting him around.
