Jury discharged, couldn't reach a verdict.

Interesting to see if the prosecution want to do it again

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

Be surprised if they did not. Will depend a lot on the view of the complainant. May be sensible to drop the control and coercive Count and continue just with the assaults

Can’t see it mate. Time this has taken has been mad.

After a trial that has lasted weeks all the evidence and testimonies submitted and the jury still can’t reach a verdict then surely the prosecution hasn’t made their case beyond reasonable doubt. They shouldn’t be able to have another go at it with another jury.

Having said that though the defence hasn’t made their case beyond reasonable doubt either. What a mess.

It's not long for a trial at all, but his barrister is privately paid, we were saying in Court the other day, had this been legal aid, it would have taken less than a week.

1 day for lost due to jury illness and another for the bank holiday.

Meanwhile a 13 year old girl is having to wait 3 years for the trial of the accused for her rape. Justice eh!

Indeed, my colleague had a very similar situation in the same court as Giggs, her case got put back to next year, Giggs's went on.

Orders from above that his case with the publicity, could not be adjourned.

This is why we are striking, So many of us have left criminal law, it will get worse and worse and worse.

3 years, tragically, is not that long at the moment. (Obviously is, but very very common) Can you imagine if you are wrongly accused ?

If the complainant is happy to attend a retrial, I think they’ll definitely run another case as it’s too high profile not to. If she’s not happy, then they’ll drop it.

Trial judge has referred it to the Attorney General.

She's an excellent Judge, does not take any messing around

You have a point.
He is clearly a orrible chap but he is one amongst millions albeit he is very rich.

Im not keen on another trial which Jonalot points out will be funded by the State,ie US.

Trouble is no one knows how many of the jury thought he was Guilty could be just two either way with 9 thinking he was guilty or 9 thinking he was Innocent.

Perhaps the prosecution should select a jury from Liverpool.

Forget about who they are.

If the complainant makes it clear that she wants the Crown to continue, then why wouldn't they ? This is a serious allegation in a domestic violence context. It would be very rare that they would not in that context

Jury couldn’t decide
Seems his legal team have done a great job.
If there is another trial,he could well walk after almost two years of it hanging over his head.
It’s a mess

Is it in the public interest ?

I've cases 6 years plus old. It is a DV allegation, if true, very much in public interest. Won't drop it
