One point though, is that in the end it will be about finance. As long as we make money from developing players all is well. The turning point surely is if fans vote with their feet and losses start to mount?

Good point Clive, I’m thinking we are not at that stage yet, in fact quite a way away. Purely down to the fact we are competitive and are not losing or struggling. Whilst there is hope etc.

Not sure about the quite a way away. With the loss of form of our potentially saleable goal scorers, have we players that can cover a £10m? yearly loss? With ST at a good discount from matchday prices I wonder what our walk up crowd is especially now that things are getting tighter.
| Can Russell Martin see out this season at Swansea City ? on 10:42 - Dec 20 with 1201 views | Fireboy2 | Great read Keith, spot on, why people get wound up baffles me, Martin is here for the long haul and as you say he might get picked up, hopefully after a great tilt at the PL, problem is then we have to look for another manager, what won't happen is a flirt with relegation, well I'm hoping not anyway 🤔 And btw preston to blackburn is 11 miles, not 27, so whatever we take to reading considering the distance will be fantastic. | | | |

Has under performed with us 10th in the league 7 without a win and has been backed. Very lucky to still have a job. If it were golf I would put him about 6 over par. Not advocating that we do sack him but still think he is lucky 4th longest serving manager in the division. He is lucky that our owners see something in him, plus the purse strings are tight and there is no guarantee the next one will be any better. Put me in the underwhelmed catagory but barring a relegation scrap stick for now. [Post edited 20 Dec 2022 14:38]

Because it is only a game when all is said and done. Most support the club, enjoy meeting mates, have a laugh, take the good with the bad. But then most aren't an eternal flaming pessimist like you. Crikey you make Victor Meldrew seem like Santa Claus, Peter Kay and Val Doonican rolled into one Cheer up for crying out loud

Another way to look at it , two losses , both by individual errors . Blackburn who are in 3rd have lost more than us, Qpr have lost the last 4 . time for head rolling is not now

Yes good article Keith sums up where we are at perfectly. A mid table team with owners are content with the way things are going. Hardly sets the pulses racing though the football which is to slow and predictable and the results which are mediocre. Russ has shown nothing yet that indicates we are improving. | Can Russell Martin see out this season at Swansea City ? on 16:42 - Dec 20 with 862 views | Badlands | Much said about recent results .. no wins from 7, close defeats etc. But I am looking long term and, while Martin probably won’t get us relegated he will not get us promoted either, nor will we improve. I honestly think he doesn’t really understand what is needed to improve results under this style which will continue to keeping us mid-table. What annoys me is seeing the team underperform as a result of the manager. On the other hand, I see no reason to seek promotion if the following season means one hammering after another and relegation.

Swansea won’t stand in his way. To cash in now would be a very good move for all.

I think their ‘player trading model’ as they call it is something they always wanted from Huw Jenkins, he did display some ingenuity at times, there’s a number of names he recruited through agents etc that made the club around 100 million, although that depends on who takes the plaudits for the initial business. He wasted a bit too.

That is downright stupid business sense, yes we would have been more vocal but we could have sold quite alot more, 1000 extra would bring in roughly 25k not including food and drink, utterly baffling.
