I didn't agree with loaning hi out in the first place. When he was on the pitch he looked kee, direct and aggressive, all qualities we could do with more of.
Martin is far too focussed on taking the long way around to goal. he doesn't seem happy unless we put in 50 passes first.
How many managers would be on the touchline shouting at a player not t shoot when that player in on the edge of the oppo area, facing goal with nothing else on? That is also leaving out the score at the time, we weren't winning, remember.

Free direct aggressive No wonder He s probably trouble maker too
I think he played wing back in the cup against Plymouth, he terrorised his marker so much that they doubled up on him, Morgan scored a hatrick, both never played for us again, that'll teach them.

And that’s the problem. Our wingbacks need to be able to defend, which is why Latibaudiere consistently started there ahead of Oko-Flex, despite his obvious limitations going forward.
We’d either be shoe horning him into a position which is going to leave our already fragile defence even more exposed, or he’s competing (at the time he went on loan) with Paterson and Ntcham or Piroe and Obafemi.
If he’d stood out in league one, as Whittaker has this year, there’d be an argument that sending him on loan was a bad move.

WEell I'm not in charge but we don't have wing backs, we have players out of position, Manning is a full back, Lati is just not a wing back whichever way you look at him, he has no pace, he cannot cross...
That in mind I'd be playing the 4-3-1-2 with Piroe and Joseph up front. Or maybe the 4-3-3 with Piroe in the middle, Whittaker one side, Cooper the other and Joseph on the bench ahead of Cullen.

Yes I know. Manning is arguably a wing back. Lati is a utility defender. Fact is, Martin wants players who can defend in those positions.
IMO. Cullen merits his place in the team at the moment, let alone the bench.

Manning is a better full back, Lati is a centre back who can be pushed into full back but until Martin did it, I don't think he'd ever played wing back.
Fact is when we play wing backs we always look poor, when Martin plays a back rour we have done better.
IMO Cullen has taken a long time to justify his selection and if Whitts and Joseph had been here and being used then who knows. Cullen had a little purple patch recently but he was poot at QPR. It's a bit worrying when your only choice up front after Piroe is Cullen and when you have them both on the pitch you have absolutely NO alternatives if they both play badly and what if they get injured? We have no cover and haven't since we sent Whitts and Joseph on loan and Obafemi chucked his toys. It wasn't a clever decision, loaning out both of them.

Had we known how Obafemi would behave, we probably would have kept one of them back. We were playing one up front at the time. It was hard enough keeping Trundle, Bayo, Fallon and Knight happy and we were playing two up front. Three backup strikers would have been nuts.
Cullen isn’t a choice after Piroe, he needs to play in a two. Playing as we are now, I’d agree we certainly need more strikers. Hopefully we’ll get at least one replacement for Obafemi and Whittaker. The discussion was around why we loaned him out though. At the time he’d have been behind Obafemi and Piroe at least.
The point about wingbacks/fullbacks is that Joseph can’t play there. He’s not defensive minded. It’s one thing against Plymouth squad players in the league cup.

I have never suggeste playing Joseph at wing back, he's a forward, one we have been pushing away, just like Whittaker.
How must Joseph and Whittaker been feeling knowing they are consdered behind Cullen by Martin? I think they are both more promising and been hard done by.
When Whittaker goes to Rangers I guess we'll see what he has to offer going forward.
