| Probation foul ups on 16:54 - Jan 24 with 693 views | majorraglan | This is just one in a catalogue of major faux pas by the Probation Services. Chris Grayling was responsible for introducing significant reforms including part privatisation when Theresa May was Home Secretary. Most of the changes were reversed about 2 years ago. There’s huge shortages of staff, case loads are massive and staff were under all sorts of pressures and restrictions. Hopefully things will now improve, but if they’re going to cut the budgets again it’s not promising. | | | |

Indeed. This case is now in the papers, last month we had the case of the monster who beat his girlfriend, her daughter and a friend to death in Derby. The errors are horrendous.

Good exchange and I thank you You are the only respondent to this grotesque act of mismanagement It’s always as bad as parole boards guessing the risk of someone being reformed and safe to float amongst us all We allow this without a squeak Look at the endless tedious threads on absolute trifia God help us all Right now ,we are more upset over a Tory minister avoiding tax , as we all do It’s why people have iSAs .., to avoid tax

Another example this week a convicted murder who fled to this country and claimed asylum pretending to be 14 years old. The human rights brigad said it was inhumane to for the Government to do physical checks to determine asylum seekers actual age. He went on to commit murder in this country and will spend 20 years at our expense in prison. He should have been deported on arrival.

Morning. Crazy is it not, almost as crazy as the bile spouted over much less profound dangers to society . This has nothing to do with staffing levels This is a decision made and one that led to recidivist murder . We seem hardly bothered . This subject should be 20 pager

Indeed, more whataboutery from FJ. The fact that HR activists protested against the age screening of asylum seekers isn’t relevant to this thread - it should be in another thread. FWIW I’m of the view that where there are doubts as to age, we should definitely be conducting tests but that’s for discussion in another thread. There was an article in yesterday’s Daily Express that said prisoners on licence had killed 599 people during the last decade - that’s an average of 59 per year. The article went on to say there are over 500 further serious offences, including murder and rape, committed by criminals on probation each year. The above are just staggering and shows how badly things became following the introduction of the reforms instigated during May and Grayling’s watch.

May was considered by most Police Officers I know as the very worst Home Sec. A vicious vixen with real contempt in her corset

I only heard this in passing yesterday but someone on the radio said that info received by the probation service from - can't be certain what I heard to be honest - the prison service (maybe) turned out to be inaccurate. Sorry it's so vague.

Yes, it’s awful. The government have failed completely on immigration policy - see the dozens of children lost from the system in Brighton this week. It’s all part of the wider failings of the system isn’t it? Grayling at Justice followed Dominic Raab (who decimated the court system before being reappointed). How do you feel about these massive systemic failings by the Tory party?

It’s horrendous. It’s also horrendous that it takes a heinous crime by an Albanian for a certain section of society to take notice.
