Hearing Rotherham’s offer will eat up most of their budget if he takes it, bit also know he wants to move on.

I think the owners re going to push the boat out a little this summer (relatively speaking) . The new owners/ investors are paying the £5m lottery ticket that Kevin McGuire talked about.

Martin proved his metal and overcame the disappointment of the January window with a good turnaround in form. He got his mentality sorted and got back to work using the resourced he already had. Transfers are not a quick fix. It is not about "getting bodies" in the building.

Ogbene and Kay are free signings and Swansea do not now need to deal with competitor clubs. New money can be used for wages, probably Manning wants too much so must go. Piroe might be prepared to talk and stay to ensure game time and a style of football that does not involve multiple long balls and heading duels. It is not his style and bad overall for his long term health. He has talked recently as Swansea city being a good choice as an introduction to the well resourced UK game.

If Swansea can get in good young prospects the money is a good investment even if Swansea do not get promoted next season. Potter wasted his £7m cash pile. The US people have learned. Swansea signed Asoro, Mckay and John. Brentford signed Ivan Toney for £5m. Care in recruitment is so important.

We certainly need to be more proactive with free agent and scouting abroad.
This department is so important for a club our size and we need to step it up if we want to push on.

There is no excuse in this day and age regards free agents and a cheaper foreign market(if you look in the right leagues/country).

I think it will come down to how much we are prepared to pay as a signing on fee. Even a free transfer isn't free.

Definetly.

Not many loans/free agents come without a fee as such......only one I know of in recent years was Rhian Brewster.

I even remember the infamous Matthew Rush costing us a pretty penny and Dougie trying to take the loan fee off the 250k we were quoted to sign him.

IMO Ntcham didn't come cheap, I always thought the aim was sign him up and sell him after 12 months for a profit. But that didn't materialise.

I think some signing on fees are paid over the length of the contract, I'm sure I read it somewhere on this site, if I'm wrong, blame the person that posted it previously, if I'm correct, I'll take the credit.

Back onto Ntcham that's what happened with him. Hence why different sites have such a variation in his salary. Some include the signing on fee others only list his basic salary.

I’m still not sure why this player is so highly sought after.
Less effective than Cullen.

Completely agree with the need to explore more european markets. The Eredivisie is full of fantastic technical footballers where most clubs play a more possession based attacking style.
The same would go for the Pro League as Burnley took advantage of this season.

FA rules and UK laws following brexit have made it far more difficult for clubs like us to import overseas players.
'This policy change added bureaucratic steps to international football transfers. For instance, like other overseas workers, foreign footballers must pass a points-based system before moving to the UK.

The Home Office and England’s Football Association (FA) agreed on a Football Governing Body Endorsement (GBE), which will be awarded should players meet its eligibility criteria. The GBE focuses on a player’s international senior and youth appearances, a player’s club appearances in terms of minutes played, and further information on the selling club.'

No Dorus, Scotland, Martinez, Ferry, Angel etc.
