| A particularly Welsh strange affair. Illegal mining in Merthyr 15:26 - Jul 28 with 1371 views | ReslovenSwan1 | Extinction Rebellion have been out in to try and stop illegal mining in Merthyr a few weeks ago. In general all mining sh should be blocked until the management is shown to work. This includes the miners providing cash for reinstatement of lands destroyed by their actions and guarantees of conforming to the law. In this case the miner in digging illegally without planning permission and merthyr Council and the WAG decline to stop it. The Escrow fund for reinstatement is underfunded v becasue the mining firms obliged to fund it from profits has been making a loss. I small a rat. If they are making losses why are they still digging. The WAG and Merthyr CC have probably been told not to stop it as the coal is needed for Port Talbot Steel works. TATA steeel should not be using illegally mined coal. It is a project management mess. Mertyr council unanimously voted to reject planning permision but taken no action to enforce a stop notice. A particularly strange Welsh affair. XR activists were arrested for preventing illegal mining. The South Wales constabulary protecting the interests of illegal miners. https://www.voice.wales/xr-protesters-arrested-for-blocking-illegal-coal-mine/ [Post edited 28 Jul 2023 15:27]

I do not understand your point. Extinction Rebellion are not everyone's cup of tea but did well here raising an issue. The south Wales Police were arresting demonstrators trying to block illegal activity. That means assisting illegal mining. [Post edited 28 Jul 2023 21:46]

Would result in power cuts if they were closed down or extra Coal being imported from thousands of miles away. Coal is also used in every sewage works in the UK to filter raw sewage in the process to turn sewage into clean water. Guess extinction rebellion would welcome the closure of coal Production in the UK, the end of Steel Making and more raw sewage bring pumped into our rivers and seas. Better to use our own natural resources than import them from thousands of miles away. Keep the jobs in Wales.

The likes of ER and Greenpeace seem to have few of the โ ordinary โ people they say they speak for. Most people seem too worried about feeding families which count# these Pippas and Tarquins out

This coal going to Tata steel is being illegally mined. I thought it strange that only Extinct Rebellion are trying to stop it. Even South Wales Constabulary were using their men an women to aid the continuation of the Coal miner to continue working illegally without planning permission and outside the permitted area of British Coal. This is the Wild West. "Annie get your gun".
