I recommend Lowe is taken off penalties. He made it as easy as possible for the goal keeper Patterson after the team of 10 worked like trojans to make like difficult for SFC
It is about fine details. Grimes would have scored Yates would have scored. Lowe wanted to be cute and score by deception. Accuracy and power are far more reliable.
The penalty was
a) Perfect height for the keeper
b) Not hit hard
c) Close to the centre
It relied entirely on the keeper going the wrong direction. 50:50.

I didn't speak to anybody who thought Lowe's penalty was anything besides awful. I'm old school about it, oick your spot and go for it 100%. All this stutter run up nonsense makes it easier for keepers unless you are very good at it and it often, ot seems to me, the taker is breaking the rules but refs do nothing.

Absolutely awful pen and also agree that power beats trickery every day.
I will say though that in this case I fervently believe that if we’d gone in 1-0 up we’d have lost that game. We’ll never know for definite but I’m as sure as sure can be. |  |
