The issue for Luke Williams was a clear failure to make incisive passes throughout the game, and as we saw last season a complete lack of calmness when making on field decisions. Some will find consolation from what they saw but the betting is the majority will now be concerned, not least because of the lack of ownership on the ball when goals could have been scored.  0

They did let us back into the game by sitting deep but you could say they were always comfortable in defence. That said, their fans may feel differently and are probably relieved they left with all three points. |  |

Some of it, especially the loose passing will come down to it being the first game of the season.
The style of play unfortunately is the same old, same old. Lots of possession with the sharpness of I brick. And slow, so slow even though we’ve got pace on the flanks.

No matter what the Grimes fans say, he is a large part of the reason we are so slow. he is pedestrian, he is slow of thought and deed. he can be a very nice bloke, be technically good and very popular BUt he isn't good enough to be our main man. I'd rather dig Russell Coughlin up and put him in the centre circle, he could hardly be any slower. | | | |

Boro didn’t do it as often but there were a few occasions. Just watched a bit of the Birmingham v Reading game and there were a few instances of underweighted passes evident there. It happens. Next game and thereon after, no excuses. They are professional footballers after all.
I’m more concerned of the languid approach and the tried and tested (but not very successful) possession game. I’ll use the term I’ve used before, we need a more industrial approach rather than the fancy cultured stuff we are not good enough to carry out. | |

Inder or over hit passes happen, what bthered me more was the passing without looking. At one point Grimes reveived the ball (from Falco I think) and he played it straight back but Falco had mved and he gave it straight to a Boro player.
Then Tymon took so long to make a pass a Boro forward just nicked it off his toes, the urgency simply wasn't there.
And yes, the possession game, it worris me too. Unless we are much quicker of thought AND action then we will get caught and teams we are good enough to beat will getresults against us, we saw that last season when several times we dominated possession but failed to win because other teams created more and took their chance/s | | | |
