Staff here tonight with the youngest and the Nurse said that it is a short term fix, basically the work doesn't last, couple years three maybe four at most, so I don't know. [Post edited 25 Mar 21:15]

Just wait until you get cataracts and you’ll get replacement lenses to your prescription in the NHS. They can fix both long and short sight with one lens. Doing it privately could possibly cost up to £10k.

Lens replacement will last for life so long as your eyesight has stabilised.

| Laser eye surgery on 08:50 - Mar 25 with 979 views | AnotherJohn | My wife had Lasek about 18 years ago. The more common procedure is Lasik, which involves creating a flap on the surface of the cornea and using a laser to reshape the underlying corneal tissue. As my wife's myopia was not that bad it was possible instead to reprofile the surface tissue with no flap (Lasek). Flaps can cause complications as they can be displaced later so we felt that Lasek was better, even though the discomfort lasts for a week or two. With Lasik there is much less discomfort. There are alternatives now like PRK or lens exchange, My wife's vision improvement lasted pretty well but she started using reading glasses again about two years ago. Her sight is still better than before and she drives without glasses. | | | |

Cheers AJ, I use glasses for reading, but using them more and more for the work I do, the thing then is that I've got them on most of the day to use work tablet and the three phones I carry everywhere when in work. I use off the shelf ones mostly, got two pair of prescription glasses that I rarely where, eyes are definitely getting worse through wearing glasses more and more and at 65 they're not gonna get any better.

Its easy to check your long distance, can you read all the writing and numbers clearly when watching TV. I had glasses for reading and went varifocal its a game changer. UHD tv is what it says.

Glasses interfere with my hearing aids, taking them off and on dislodges the left one and causes it to whistle, b@@tard annoying especially with the concentration needed for my work, I use the moulds cause I couldn't get on with the buds that sit further in the ear, irritation was horrendous , although ironically they'd be better with glasses.
