The slippery slope argument is a well-known one. It dates back to the Romans, and can be found in the writings of Cicero. "Affairs soon move on, for they glide readily down the path of ruin when once they have taken a start". 0

Thanks Paul, our writers do need encouragement at times but not where it isn’t due. Development is also well received, of course in a positive way. I’m sure Rhys will comment back.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

Interesting & thought provoking article. Too many errors being made by VAR. Too many EPL refs now rely on VAR to make a contentious decision. If it went tomorrow very few fans would miss it. We get crap refs too often (more than most) but I just don’t see VAR improving things based on what we have seen over a number of seasons now.

Agreed, the standard of refing isn't great, but as we see repeatedly (and again Wednesday night in the Arsenal game) VAR is not a silver bullet for mistakes, let alone all the many other negative side-effects

With VAR we would get more of the bad decisions that have gone against us than not.
