Swansea City is pleased to announce a long-term strategic partnership with Shamrock Capital, a Los Angeles-based investment firm specialising in media, sports, entertainment, communications, and related sectors.

In connection with the partnership, Shamrock has committed significant capital designed to support Swansea’s strategic priorities and future growth. The investment reflects a shared commitment to creating long-term value, with Shamrock participating in the club’s future commercial success.

Swansea will benefit from Shamrock’s deep industry expertise and relationships across the media, entertainment and sports sectors. The investment comes from Shamrock’s Content Strategy, which invests in cashflow generating assets across the global media and entertainment landscape.

Swansea City’s controlling owners Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen, said: “We are very pleased to partner with Shamrock Capital in what we believe will be a highly productive relationship for Swansea City. Shamrock is an established investor, playing a central part in the growth of numerous companies and brands globally for nearly half a century. Their involvement with Swansea City can assist the club in achieving its strategic business goals, while their expertise and knowledge within media, entertainment and sports sectors will be invaluable.”

“We have followed Swansea City's trajectory closely and are proud to partner with the club at this stage of its growth. Swansea is a club with a rich history and a passionate community behind it, and we believe it is well-positioned to build on its commercial momentum and growing global profile,” said Jason Sklar and Patrick Russo, Partners at Shamrock Capital.

“The intersection of sports, media and entertainment continues to create compelling opportunities for clubs with strong brands and ambitious leadership. Swansea City has both.”

“We believe the club is exceptionally well-positioned to strengthen its commercial platform and expand its global fan base, and we are excited to partner with the management team as they execute on that vision,” said Nick Khoury, Principal at Shamrock Capital.

BofA Securities acted as exclusive placement agent to Swansea City.

Probably not worth it at present.

Looks more like an exercise in brand growth/exploitation. They've got a lot of investments in media companies, but as far as I can tell the only other "sport" investment they have is in the Harlem Globetrotters.

We are in talks with the council about buying the stadium so possibly that is what they will finance.

That's certainly a strong possibility. Shamrock stump up the cash in return for a percentage of the club and maybe an enhanced cut of any increase in commercial income going forward.

Patrick Russo of Shamrock Capital is also on the board of the Miley Cyrus Foundation. Double header with Snoop Dog to celebrate the extension? Might be the only time the expanded stadium sells out!

Not quite correct but close. The $7.4 billion is other people's mont under their management. It is important to know the difference between this and the Kaplan Levien investment.

In this case investment it seems is from money from their under management funds not a separate fund owned by the owners.

You will remember Kaplan and Levien. Kaplan was a director at Oaktree Capital Management which has £270 billion under management and much bigger than Shamrock. However Oaktree did not invest in Swansea Kaplan did himself with his friend Levien setting up a separate business. Kaplan sold up his founding shareholding and pocketted a few hundreds of millions. His loss in Swansea was disappointing but he will not have lost any sleep over it.

I suspect Kaplan was a lot weather than many believed. Shamrock are investing other people money invested with them not their own. The idea of hedge funds is the owner of the fund is invested as well and has a vested interest in doing well. All the investors in the Kaplan Levien fund took a hit and chequed out accepting it did not work.

It took me 20 minutes of my time to explain to the forum community the difference between this and Kaplan Levien investment as it appeared to be similar . I am a frustrated teacher and like explaining things to people who are not well versed in these matters .

You post was a little misleading. I got a bouncing coin after my essay on James Analytics.. C'est la vie!

That was the equivalent of young Evans's paper aeroplane in English literature on a hot wednesday afternoon.

Swansea have not released detail on the size or form of the investment, but have indicated that Shamrock Capital will not become shareholders in the club.

So how is this investment working if not shareholders? Are they just going to be a financing vehicle. Loans?

Well we have had our old friend the "convertible loan note " before.

We are in the world of wonderful financial manoeuvre s and techniques. Hedge funds and the like.

The CLN was a loan made to the club to to turned into shares at a fixed price some time in the future. Perhaps something like this is involved.

The Swans are gaining what could be multi millions in investment over time. This isn’t a small issue by any means and with the fans park under way there is much to look forward to. Not only that getting in another winger and centre back on a permanent is solid business.

People are complaining elsewhere, you would think we were entitled to these things.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

Especially with the losses of £17m last season a millions before. In the old Morgan / Jenkins regime these losses woud have killed the club. They saw the way the wind was blowing and exited. The fans group were not paying attention.

Things are definitely looking good. These owners are doing a great job. There are always moaners who will never be happy. I am really excited by all the positive things going on at our club.
