I think it's slightly unfair for people to overly judge Matos if this is the case. He sees him day in and day out and knows more than anyone what he delivers.
It's not the same but, if you took over a business and had the staff from past ownership. You want your own vision and people. Keep the ones he thinks will fit into his business mindset and those who still might be good or competent or thrive in other environments may not work for the business.

Is this purely to get his wages off the bill to then eventually move him on. Or does Matos and the club need him to get more game time? Surely second option would mean he would do it with us? Otherwise he is not the type of player Matos wants. Didn't you report that the club tracked Walta for a while? Again I know it's a different coach with a player that is not maybe to his liking, but Walta must surely be pretty poor in some aspect of what Matos wants? Is it his strength? Lack of closing down? Managers are not infallible. They have their own thoughts and processes and are often wrong. I hope Matos is right and we will be able to get away without playing a genuine creator in the middle when we need to get past a defensive side. | |

Perhaps, although we've not exactly given him many chances to prove himself in the side.
The question I have to ask is why, if he isn't/wasn't Matos' cup of tea, something wasn't said before we brought him in in the first place. VM had been here for a couple of months by then.
Maybe something was said and Matos was overruled, which isn't a comforting thought either. | |
