Surely if his God didn't want illegals in his village he could do something about it?

He's an extremist. The fact he's a white, british, christain one is immaterial.
A belief that God saved his life ratehr than the first aiders, medical intervention and hospital care makes him a bit of a nutcase in my opinion, but each to their own.

I understand his arguments and some of them are strong. My neighbour is Italian and reports that Meloni repeatedly states clearly that Italy is a catholic country.
We need some of that certainty around values here in the UK.
The church seems to be increasingly divided on many issues.
As to slavery reparations, the church has a mixed record. You could point to the 15th Century and say some in the church supported slavery or look at the early 19th century and say the church was active in abolishing slavery.
He has the same belief of many e.g. illegal migrants are more than welcome by a Labour Party that passed a motion a few years back incentivising exactly that, and despite the fact that individual's in the same party deceive the general public with "smash the gangs" subterfuge/lies.
That is why a few years back I predicted 'safe routes' strategy, that is a great way to lessen damning footage of invading boats being towed into U.K waters by Border Force and RNLI.
And it'll be a great way to massage the figures also by stating that illegal immigration has fallen by such and such a percent when (Abracadabra!) they became 'legal' courtesy of arriving via a C-130 at some remote military base under the cover of darkness instead.

In between her constant sobbing, politics grandstanding and blaming everything on Britain being evil she managed to ask him why he didn’t go down the legal route. His response? This way is quicker. He had the forms to apply legally but he was moaning that it could take weeks.
I doubt that attitude has changed. Migrants don’t want to go down the legal route because it takes too long and there is a chance they will be rejected. The “safe and legal route” doesn’t take away the carrot of coming here or the attitude towards danger.

You can't and have never been able to claim asylum in the UK from a different country, or even at a UK embassy.
I suspect him not filling in forms in France was because when we were members of the EU he could have been returned there. Now he couldn't.

That’s the good thing about Catholicism. You can do all the evil stuff you want for 80 years, genocide, murder, support Cardiff city etc and as long as you repent fifteen seconds before you die you’re guaranteed a spot up above with the big guy.
