Unclear why a quick appointment is necessary, Rotherham have to beat three of Forest, Villa, Stoke (A), Swansea (A), Blues, West Brom (A) and Middlesborough for us to be in with a chance of the drop. No need to throw the baby out with the bathwater. In fact, the only reason I can see for a quick appointment is to allow the new man in to assess some of the out of contract players for next season. Would be nice to see us apply the due diligence for the next manager though that seems unlikely. |  | | |

Michael appleton is a very very good manager
i watched his oxford team play in person in 2015-2016, and they were literally barcelona... kemar roofe was on that team, and they played rly rly attractive football and he was allowing young players to come through and express themselves

Very sad list but so typical of our club. We just don't learn our lessons. Whether it's managers or signing players, we are plodding and uninspired. There must be a better upcoming manager with an improving CV? Really not sure about Ainsworth, he 's done ok but but he reminds a little of Holloway. If Sherwood gets the job , then Les Ferdinand really needs to pack his bags and do one !! | | | |

I know for a fact that he is interested in the job. I was also lucky enough to be working at Brentford within the youth system at time as he was there and his work on the training ground was a joy to watch, had so many ideas and plans, he had the youths from U14's upwards playing the same style as the 1st team throughout and was a complete gent on and off the training pitch. My one concern would be how the transfers are co-ordinated as he had a falling out at Brentford based on their change in policy and his lack of input on them, I fear he could be the right man but at the wrong club / for the wrong board. Also a little known fact that his teenage years were spent watching our glorious QPR team of the mid 70's and attending training under Dave Sexton through his friendship with Frank McLintocks son.
Would in my opinion be a great appointment if allowed a say on transfers and input into the youth set up, whether he would get that at QPR remains to be seen.
Failing Warburton and with no one else on the shortlist particularly attractive I would like us to go leftfield and do a bit of research, take a bit of time (haha I know right, actually researching a manager and interviewing them, what sort of a stupid club would do that?) and find an upcoming enthusiastic German manager in the mould of Wagner, Farke and Stendel at Hudds,Norwich & Barnsley, someone who we don't know a lot about in the sense that we couldn't pre judge them as 'No not Steve Clarke hes ex Chelsea''Sherwoods getting it cos he's Les's mate etc etc | | | |

Loved his leadership on the pitch, I know his Cambridge tenure didn't go too well but then you can't polish a turd. We just need someone who can inspire the players and the fans. Hopefully, someone hardly any of us has heard of who turns out to have been doing a great job, on a limited budget, developing youth, at a small club somewhere else. They must be out there and, despite our predicament, we're still only one tier (as things stand) away from a league that most managers want to work in so we must, at the very least, hold some attraction to managers as a potential stepping stone. I thought the strategy with the JFH appointment was the right one but just the wrong man. Instead of accepting he, not the strategy, was the issue we, as usual, swung completely the other way and threw the baby out with the bath water.
In reality, it's likely to be someone from the same old tired names. On that basis I think Adkins, if he would be interested, is about the best fit we could hope for. | |

Keep Eustace in place until the end of the season, no need to rush into anything.
Actually play the likes of BOS in all the remaining games and then re-assess.
We know next year the likelihood is that we are going to have to go with the kids. The brief for our head of recruitment (your guess as good as mine) is to find a manager who can bring the kids on, get them playing confidently and we as a fan base need to be patient if the results don't come straight away.

He would likely have to sever his long working relationship with Frank McParland to work here. Not like those two have a flawless record in the transfer market either.
Was a big advocate of Warburton's when Ramsey got given the job but his work since has been concerning. Widely hailed well-liked coach same way McClaren was but his sides were inconsistent, tactically all over the place and particularly inept defensively.
Would be a "definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results" situation I feel. But ahead of Sherwood and Rowett, certainly. | | | |
