The problem with Labour is that they are meant to represent the white working class, but their leadership are out of touch middle class Londoners who think the working class are all thick, racist morons.

People in the North know Labour don't care about them or their problems. Labour's reaction to the child abuse scandal that is happening in all poor Northern towns was not only to not give a toss about the actual abuse, but just to call anyone racist who protested against it.

Now the working class are voting in their own interests and against them, they have the gall to suggest that their lives are going to be worse without Labour running the show. They have absolutely no self awareness whatsoever.

Well I'm not sure, he might do or he might not. But he doesn't actively hate them in the same way that the Labour leadership clearly does.

Labour genuinely care much more about the Afghani blokes that turned up in a dinghy last week to the white working class families that have built the country over generations. Why exactly should they still keep voting for Labour?

So did Maggy but people still voted her in.

In fact, she broke the red wall first.

Truth is, outside the cities, patriotism (some will call it racism) even from minorities /immigrants that have been here for decades is very strong.

The article above points this out.

So congratulations if you wanted Boris Johnson as PM.

Please don’t celebrate too much though as you have work to do. You see us “remoaners” have spent three and a half years now telling you Brexit was wrong but we’ve finally and completely lost. There’s pretty much nothing we can do now to stop it.

So, it’s over to you, Leavers. You need to get yourselves into gear to make it work. We need to see some of these benefits you’ve been able to see yet unable to properly articulate since 2016.

I hope you don’t mind but I’ve taken the liberty of writing a to do list for you.

1. Get Brexit done please. When we say done we mean as promised so we’ll be looking for trade deals with the EU, Japan, Australia and Canada, etc. In fact there’s about 40 deals covering 70 countries that need to be done please. Also with the US that doesn’t involve the NHS or chlorine. We want what you promised us. That was that we’d be no worse off than when we were an EU member. You need to crack on as this was promised by the end of Jan. You have seven weeks.

2. The NHS. We want the cash that was promised please. £350 million per week is about 72,000 nurses so please get recruiting. This is important.

3. Scotland. Ok so these guys were promised they would remain in the EU if they remained in the UK. They’re pretty pissed. In fact they’ve voted almost exclusively for the SNP so they might want to leave. Equally you said the UK wouldn’t split so you’ll need to both grant Scotland its independence and keep it as part of the United Kingdom. Good luck squaring this circle. NB. This is urgent.

4. Northern Ireland. Oooookay then. You’ve really buggered this one up. There’s a chance they could look to reunify with the Republic now because they didn’t want to Brexit. Regardless, you’ve caused instability there where we and they can least afford it. NB. This is also urgent.

5. The economy. Johnson keeps talking about unleashing the potential of the country. We need to see this soon if possible. We don’t want to see the downturn that “project fear” predicted. We don’t want to be poorer. We don’t want to lose out.

6. You’ll also need to “bring the country back together”. This might be tricky as a lot of people seem to be really really angry with each other.

That’s as far as I’ve got. Should keep you busy. So go and get all British about things. Roll up your sleeves, pull your socks up, dig deep and deliver what you promised.

And remember if you fail to deliver any of this, it’s on you, Brexit and Tory voters. You wanted this so badly and now you have it. We honestly hope we’re wrong and that you can make a success of this but if you can’t then we will forever tell you that we told you so.

This is the problem with the left. Their views are the correct views and any deviation is not to be tolerated. Why did these working class people vote for the Tories, you are suggesting they are stupid and not intelligent enough to see the future as you see it. I am not on Twitter so can only take what I read second hand so correct me if I am wrong but Lilly Allen tweeted "I think racism and misogyny runs so deep in this country and that Boris won because of his attitude towards those things and not in spite of them". Ordinary people don't like being insulted like that. Just looking at a recording of Question Time and it is the same, this country is in a terrible state and it will only get worse. Again the view is that the stupid electorate do not recognise this and are not as clever as us.

“You see us “remoaners” have spent three and a half years now telling you Brexit was wrong”

That’s the problem you see, you haven’t tried reasoning or understanding other people’s opinions, just telling them they’re wrong. After a while people stop listening if you’re unable to make a reasonable case for your point of view, hence you get labelled a remoaner.

As for your post, you seem to be confusing people who voted leave with the government. You come across as rather irrational and unable to accept other people’s views and choices, it’s called democracy and I’d expect you to understand that by now.

Exactly this. well said.

Three and a half years being called all sorts of things from those who believe they know better and are wiser to the potential outcome of that democratic vote, have lead the silent majority to once again rise in great numbers to give those on the left an almighty almost fatal knock out blow.

'You didn't know that was wrong, but now you do. If you do it again, I'll know you are doing it on purpose.'

But they dont really hope they are wrong................ do they?

But
1/ Brexit is a process, we will leave in 7 weeks completing stage 1 . Judge stage 2 when it does or doesnt happen . Conjecture now is just the death throes of project fear.

2/ 31K New Nurses , 19K retained nurses who stats tell us would have left over the period the balance to the NHS pot . The bus money is promised .

3/ Scotland morally should probably get a chance to vote . There will have been a material change in their situation . But equally they have to prove they can make a go of it first , a sensible budget without reliance on the Barnett formula , improved education and health management , a plan for defence . They should also have a chance to see how Brexit looks after a few years . Promise a vote in 3 years time , providing all is in place with a 2 year transition ...

4/ Same as Scotland

5/ The economy will not go gangbusters or collapse overnight . We only need to keep pace with the major EU countries really to not "lose out" ,but hopefully better over time.

6/ The country will come back together naturally , but it requires in the first place "losers consent" . In every one of the last 5 years the country has had a chance to vote for our direction of travel and choose this direction every time . It will be easier if everyone was on board . Digging your heels in only hurts your feet ....

Labour have historically been a party that supported the working class more so than the Conservatives. So "Boris Johnson isn't any better" actually doesn't help, the Labour leadership and party as a whole has to be significantly more appealing to the working class, their roots, to stand a chance If working class vote is split between Labour and Conservative then Labour will always lose overall.

I voted remain and I accepted the result a long time ago. I think people on both sides need to be a bit more grown up.

But ultimately democracy is all about the freedom to protest and have a voice so if people want to continue fighting to remain or even rejoin the EU (once we leave) that’s fair enough. We’re lucky to live in a democratic country.

No problem with a later vote to rejoin the EU but the original vote must surly be implemented first. It is not those like you that voted to remain but accept the result I have trouble with it is those that do not accept the result.

Fair enough. The result of the vote is being implemented and we should be out of the EU next year.

Important to remember that democracy allows people to protest and challenge even if we do not necessarily agree. People in Hong Kong are fighting tooth and nail to keep such rights.

Well the reason why I, and others have been banging the drum to Remain, is that all the Government forecasts say that the UK will be worse off out of the EU than by staying in. The evidence, over this year in particular, is that investment has dried up, and growth is stagnant. As Clinton used to say "It's the economy, stupid".
Then you add the collapse in immigration from the EU and you see shortages of doctors, nurses, social care staff and fruit pickers, coupled with huge rises in the use of food banks and the rise in in-work poverty - despite ercord levels of employment.
So turn your back on your closest neighbours and your biggest export markets who will start implementing tariffs on goods from the UK and restricting the rights of service companies to operate in the EU27.
I'm glad I'm out of it. I exercised my treaty rights to live in the EU27. I'm not likely to feel the pain, unless the UK stops paying the pensions to which I am entitled or the reciprocal health care I paid into for 45 years. But that doesn't stop me being concerned about friends and family who are not so fortunate.

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one’s lifetime. (Mark Twain) Find me on twitter @derbyhoop
