Sports Direct

I've never met the man but Mike Ashley sounds like someone 'd rather not have any dealings with.

I cant stand the way his Sports shops are set out and I've never seen so many unmotivated and downtrodden staff members working in a store. I admit I havnet visited a branch for several years and that my mind has been swayed by the publicity this man receives

Interesting to see that he believes Sports Direct & Evans Cycles should remain open as he sees his brands as offering essential services.

The only problem is that is you buy off the internet to avoid him are his grubby paws all over that too?

Also back in the 70/80's there were certain brands of jeans in my circle of people you didnt wear. Levis where out, Lee Cooper where the ones to be seen in

captains fantastic

Pret A Manger - got food poisoning off one of their salads last year (only thing I ate that day). I emailed them to let them know - I wasn't after compensation - and at the time were quite helpful. A well later they sent me a pretty cold letter saying that unless I'd 'kept my stools' I had no way of proving it was their fault. Still find that hard to believe.

I would have sent them my schit in a box.

Funny, I was years with BG, then left when I got a better deal with Sainsburys that went tits up back with BG, their service is very good and quick if the boiler breaks down, not the cheapest but not all bad.

Sky sports I cancelled on line pretty quickley, still coming through for free.

BT by phone gave me a credit for this month and will be zilch until resume the sport.

Don't read mail as a rule, you know most of its reporting is going to br purile shite.

Just shows how different customer service can be.

Shame on anyone going to a Sports Direct or Wetherspoons after this week.

The Evening Standard was always crap anyway but I won't tolerate it they after they doorstepped the flatmates and family of a friend who died in a traffic incident some years ago and generally hounded anyone linked to them on social media. (After being told to leave it by all they eventually ran the only grainy pic off the internet they could find and some quotes from the only person that piped up, a old boss the person hated from a random job several years previous.)

The boss of Wetherspoons was largely mis-quoted, he told his staff to look for another job if they wanted to but their old job will still be there for them once it’s all over. The press made it sound like he was being a harsh git when infact he wasn’t.

You're defending the indefensible there. And now probably due to social media pressure, political pressure with nearly a hundred MPs writing to him and the general media outcry, to save face and potential loss of future revenue with people boycotting his pubs, he's made a U-turn and done the decent thing he should have done in the first place as employers like Costa Coffee did who promised eight weeks pay for their employees until the government assistance.

I think it might be too little too late though, people will remember.

My wife contemplated buying a motor made by a certain company based up in the Wirral ( and lootown).

Many expletives were used in my response of NO.

People might remember but the pull of cheap booze will prevail.

Costa - terrible coffee at relatively expensive prices

Daily Mail - already covered but the most popular English language website in the world apparently?!? A click bait propaganda outfit…. http://shouldireadthedailymail.com

I used to quite like Wetherspoons - nothing special but basic OK pubs when others were closing left right and centre.

But they've had it from me now, not going into another one until the management is cleared out. There are still decent pubs out there and I'd rather give them my money when the chance next arises.

Facebook - shameless data scraping
3 mobile - canceled a contract, had evidence of canceling, they went to legal action for recovery and I proved them wrong, they still tried to collect additional fees
Any sponsor of a Prem League club in SW London

I ALWAYS claim for a fare delay from London Underground. Was done for non-payment about 25 years ago when I had tried to pay an excess fare. Since then, have claimed 000's of pounds of fares for any delay entitled to claim for.

It's always noisiest at the shallow end
