I was on the fence but I think the important thing to remember here is that Warburton has seen enough to decide he wants Amos.

We saw glimpses of what Amos is capable of last season. Now over to Warburton to consistently get the best out of him.

Some rare agreement between us. He is ballast.

ballast
/ˈbaləst/

heavy material, such as gravel, sand, or iron, placed in the bilge of a ship to ensure its stability.
"the QPR midfield had insufficient ballast"

Beginning of a new era

Also as we were paying a big chunk of his wages anyway last season he has more than likely not increased the wage bill.

Sharpy engaging in the football threads - he's got the bug back lads. I'm calling it now, extra time winner against Brentford in the play off final.

It's promising that he said in the interview that he didn't even show half of what he's capable of last season. He said he was a little hesitant at first playing after his injury which is understandable. There's some great upside to this signing at a fairly low cost

The Spurs Academy watcher thread I follow loves him, raved about him prior to his injuries.

After an ACL nobody plays better, a very few get back to where they once were. He looked the part on occasions last season so if it’s only a million then probably worth a try.

I agree with Warbs.... been really impressed with Lukey’s hunger, desire and passion in his time with us.
In displaying those credentials he’s only been giving it 50% or less (i.e not even half of what he’s capable of) so really excited to see him flip that switch next season and decide to kick on at 100%.

Agree with everyone else who sees his horrible ACL injury and us as recovery vehicle for that as a positive. We carry out stringent medicals and have always been a lucky club with serious knee injuries so that’s no concern in terms of a reoccurring issue.
As he goes through the gears and benefits from the coaching; we’ll have the complete midfielder on our hands..... well maybe not the defending bit, but with goals and assists he’s going to be top notch from what I’ve seen.

He’s a bargain at a million quid.

So title win, record points haul and the FA cup in the bag I reckon????

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Wasn't overly impressed with him last season
He's a bit lightweight and tends to drift in and out of games.
However he showed enough glimpses of skill to think we may have a player on our hands and the way Warburton handles and develops young players means he can only get better.

It's promising, there's hope that Warbs has seen enough of his temperament to think that he's the right type and willing to do the work to push on next year, so fingers crossed. If he can keep clear of injuries and keep improving then he'll be a bargain, worst case if it doesn't work out then it was a risk worth taking IMO.

Still think web need a couple of leaders and nasty bar stewards.

DM and CB.

Then replacements for the Rangers 3...

Comes across well during his interview.
Hopefully He can kick on and show why Spurs kept hold of him for so long.
Plus he may not be so hesitant in the tackle with a 3 year deal in his pocket.

Good luck Luke

We certainly need a centre half! Probably two. And another central midfielder. I’m worried about Cameron next year, playing anywhere. There were times last season where it looked like he’d lost control of his feet, others where the trapping the ball was made to look like catching a chicken and a few occasions where he misjudged headers so much I thought his eyes might be going. Apart from that...

Spurs may think that 40% sell on clause is genius, but I think it’s a bit silly.

If he does nothing, it’ll be worth peanuts.

If he becomes ace and worth, say £10m, we’re still making 5.5m profit on him. Fine.

If he becomes super and worth say £20m, you’d assume Spurs may actually be interested in buying him back, amongst other interested parties, at which point, that clause becomes leverage for us. It’ll drive his cost up, not down.

In fact that sort of deal means we could just ask Spurs to get involved to drive the price up in a bidding war.

Obviously he needs to turn out to be good first. But they’ve just sold us a lad who’ll cover Kane’s wages for one month, who 2 years ago was about to break into their first team squad and is still 23.

This is a shot to nothing from the club. Sell on fees work for us in the sort of deals we’re doing far better than up front cash! No win no fee.

I would also say any club putting a 40% sell on fee into the contract is a sign that they rate the player high enough to think this will be a success for him. Good sign for us I think.

Can we mark this for prosperity if by any chance he goes for 5m in the future and the "I told you so, we always get raked over the coals" hindsight brigade come out?

Welcome Luke, good luck to you.

I'm delighted to see we're in the market buying anybody. Took no pleasure watching him in our team as a Spurs player, now he's one of ours it's a different kettle of fish. Go get 'em my boy.

He's got talent for sure, he did OK for us last season and I expect him to get better so I have no issues with the signing. Much better than some of the players we currently use in the 1st team. MW has made us some good signings and I see this as another good signing.

Pleased with this signing, he's put a terrible injury behind him, and now has a years Championship under his belt.

I'm sure it's been a tough learning curve for him, but we have signed him at just the right time, ( good price).

Good luck Luke!
