We have an intriguing summer ahead in terms of reshaping the squad for the 2021/22 season.

First, retention. Can we afford to keep our best players and winter loans? Our present squad has pretty much produced promotion form since the turn of the year. Keeping things as much as they are will, for once, be as important as making changes.

Outs. I can see Lumley, Cameron, Owens, Smyth and Oteh going/being released at the end of their contracts, with Austin and Johansen not being retained. It looks like Kane will be moved on in some way. The usual slew of U23s being will be let go too.

Ins. We know Wallace will get another year and I expect Carroll could get one too. Field and de Wijs should get contracts too. Assuming all of the above we shouldn’t have too many vacant positions to fill, perhaps just a centre back, right wing back and striker.

One other issue would be loans out. I’d like to see Joe Walsh, Conor Masterson, Faysal Bettache and Charlie Kelman go out on short loans, say 3 months, to sharpen them up for the first team. We’ll obviously need a strong squad to do that.

Yeah he looked really good against us, might be worth a punt at the right price

I'm always a bit wary of signing players by that criteria. That's how we ended up with Eric Sabin...

Still think we need strengthening at full back. Wallace has done great the last few months but how likely is he to last a full season? I really don't rate Niko - he seems too lightweight and has been caught out defensively several times this season even though he hasn't played that much. Ditto right back. Kane will probably leave and I still don't think Kakay is that good, goal last week notwithstanding. Would like to think that the same person who scouted Dickie and Willock is on the case.

Wish Darnell was still here - he would have been great in Warburton's team.

I agree with you re Furlong - shame he isn't here.

Wallace proved he is good enough and was a big influence to the team this season. As for Kakay, he should mature into a fine full back with the players and management he has around him.

Niko is limited despite most posters wanting him to 1st choice ahead of the Glasgow Rangers Captain.....bet they don't now though!!!

Re LTC......I am not a fan, I don't think he does enough for us going forward and is not strong or fit enough, one paced.

I really thought he would be released this summer but listening to MW and reading QPR web it appears that he may get a new contract. MW is always positive about his players though so who knows.

WE need better if we are going to press for the play-offs next season.
