AJ V Usyk 16:13 - Sep 21 with 4929 viewsthemodfather

pts win for AJ for me, usyk is a southpaw and its so hard to win v them, usyk imo is not big enough to ko AJ and i don't think AJ will go all out to engage and ruffle usyk and try and get him off stance/balance . good undercard but £25 is a lot , should be a good fight though.

Agree, over-priced + over-hyped, can't watch Joshua after he got on his bike for whole of 2nd fight v Ruiz.

hopefully AJ wins, should be a good fight as Usyk is superb. A very dangerous fight for AJ

I think AJ needs a ko to win this one. Usyk will only get stronger the longer the fight goes on and I can see AJ getting tired against a more mobile and technical boxer.

I fancy AJ to get the stoppage within 6 rounds by virtue of his power against a much smaller / lighter opponent. But if he hasn’t hurt Usyk by midway through the fight, I suspect AJ will be in trouble.

Difficult one to call as since Ruiz 1 AJ has not been the same fighter.

Not a matchup I would necessarily stay up until 3am to watch but as it's being staged in the UK I'll be spending my £25 in the sports bar with some pals.

reports are AJ has dropped a lot of weight, so has he lost power? bellew did all he could and ran out of steam trying to chase usyk, i think Aj stays long and boxes at range. he has to win to stay in line for the big one v fury and the massive ££££££££££££££££££ $$$$$$$$ that will bring.

Can't see a winner outside of Oleksandr Usyk.

Weigh-in tomorrow lunchtime and i doubt there will be more than 15/16 LBS between them with AJ cutting weight and Usyk bulking up, although by the time they step in the ring 24 hours later, the difference could shoot up another 7LBS or so.

At 6ft 3 and weighing the same as Wilder, Usyk is big enough imo, to handle AJ' s stone jam power in the ring . Usyks ringcraft, speed, depleted uranium chin and Amphetamine sulphate stamina tips the scales for me. Wish he'd get rid of the Paul Rutherford Moustache though.

AJ'S Lost a bit of lacquer for me after the Ruiz fight but a toe to toe with Usyk could well bring out the best in him. I'll chuck me pony in the filthy Sky Pot tomorrow, get a Jalferezi in and stack the Peroni Red labels high, hoping for the best with an AJ win by stoppage in the mid rounds 6-8 but i fear an Usyk stoppage late championship rounds 10-12.

I agree with you on Usyk. Just think he is coming in this with confidence and absolutely nothing to lose. He has good skills, speed and technique, as well as the power to hurt at heavyweight and he knows that AJ can be stopped by smaller, mobile fighter with fast hands.

Will be interesting to see if Usyk can take a big punch from AJ though. At this weight one punch will be all it needs to take an opponent out, if can weather that and keep going, I think will be really dangerous in later rounds for AJ.

Never knowingly understood

AJ knockout win or Usyk late stoppage or points.
Cant foresee a fight where AJ wins on points.

Agreed DD, reluctantly have to say it's Usyk for me too. AJ the man I've always liked but AJ in the ring has never fully convinced me quite honestly. When I saw Usyk step off the plane the other day I was genuinely shocked at his size, can't imagine any turbulence they encountered had much effect with him sitting up front.

On a personal note I moved house Monday so no Wifi and no Sky, picked a great weekend for it, the fight, Ryder Cup and of course our boys tomorrow............the local does have Sky though so I'll pitch up there tomorrow night and see you all on Monday morning.

Good luck with the move Tone, I'll make sure to use servants entrance in the east wing of your new Chateau when i pop round with the Lowenbrau pilsners and collection of west coast Extended Vinyl Yacht rock cuts. ;-)

Weigh in Today 12.30pm.

AJ is about a stone heavier but i do not doubt Usyk;s quality but he hardly troubled Chisora , AJ stays away and boxes at distance , if it's a trade off then anyone can win, we all know ruiz hammered Aj , hence in the rematch he boxed at distance and won, shame we won't see fury v aj this year , but as tyson said if he didnt fight wilder he would have been liable for $80m in fines/pay outs!

usyk won that no excuses, he was pure class and rocked Aj many times, all this fury talk must be a distraction, well done usyk, great fight

Said for years that AJ is a poor mans Bruno , if this was thirty years ago he wouldn’t be in the top ten heavyweights
he Got outclassed tonight pure and simple and didn’t know what to do

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

That was predictable. Usyk the better boxer which was always going to tell over 12 rounds. AJ gave away his biggest advantages (size and power) by cutting too much weight.

That said, I don’t think AJ’s the same fighter since the first Ruiz fight. He doesn’t want to get drawn into scraps but probably not good enough to go 12 rounds with the more technical heavyweights.

Fantastic performance by Usyk, you dont see many heavyweight contest with that level of consistent intensity through 12 rounds

Well deserved victory

unlike the Hatton points win earlier, reminded me of a saying my old man used, bent as a 9 bob note

watching the fight i kept saying "why is AJ not getting usyk tied up on the ropes, leaning on him, working the inside"? cause it was clear he wasn't going to jab and go for points from distance, as usyk was too mobile, quick and could have put aj down on three times. all credit to usyk, what a night for him. aj needs a big rethink for any rematch.

i woke up just in time to see the  disgrace of Gijon hatton fight.

I was laid assunder in a  bermuda triangle of King prawn bhuna , Aloo gobi , empty Warsteiner pilsner bottles and  farting like Mount Fuji with the 1000 yard stare from 'er indoors. And i for one, don't blame her.

By the time AJ walked on like James browns farewell tour at the Harlem Apollo,  i was awake enough to watch the main gig. No surprise to see Usyk mop up and credit to an amazing boxer. I don't think the boxing style AJ has adopted since the Ruiz defeat suits him at all, Far too cautious. Even Usyk  mentioned a few times in various interviews last night,  that he expected a lot tougher fight.

IMO, I would think Dillian Whyte would give Usyk a real going over, not to say he would win, but the blokes a berserker who wouldn't piss  about with the pugilistic graces and niceties  of the queensbury rules, i.e. he'd put it on the fu cker with extreme prejudice.

Carl froch gives an excellent interview after the fight below. Although I cannot say if Carl is on the petrol washed bogota bugle during the interview,  it seems to help with the semi automatic Mauser MG 42 Delivery of His sentences and the constant wiping of his Hooter.

Good Analysis of the fight though. Also worth noting in the background, Radio 5 live and BT boxing main man Big Daddy Steve bunce laying waste to the complimentary smorgasbord of Icelands fruits of the deep freeze party size canapes.

Given his greater size, Speed and boxing ability,   I Still take Tyson  Fury  to beat Usyk but that fight would have to take place within the next  9 to 12 months maximum. I have this sixth sense about Tyson being on the slide mentally and thus Physically.

I'm not sure Tyson will even get past Wilder this time, something about him at the moment doesn't seem quite right.  The prospective Usyk challenge might just get the blood flowing in the gypsy king one more time.

Anyway, what the fack do i know... The charge of  Munchen warsteiner pilsner  must still be knocking about in me from last night.

Usyk could be the new Evander Holyfield.
Joshua rushed to hospital with a suspected eye socket fracture so the idea Usyk hasn't got a concussive punch seems to be unfounded.
Surprised so many on here who thought Usyk would do it - bravo.
I had a very large bet on Usyk at 11/2.....sadly it was for a knockout.

Funny enough I said to the missus last night that I fancy wilder to beat Fury thus leaving both fury & AJ looking around for elimination fights , both have been greedy with negotiations for their prospective fight and how ironic would it be that in a couple of weeks time neither will have a belt.
Now is the time for whyte to get rid of Hearn and start challenging for titles I would fancy him to be the superior heavyweight if he fights either Usyk or Wilder

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore
