Among the thousands in the away end and sides at Peterborough yesterday there was a surprisingly large number of young, ie under 25, herbert's indulging in various forms of jolity. A few got out of hand an made fools of themselves (of us), but most were content to wear various caps and sing Rangers songs. My question is where have they come from? I do literally mean where have they come from. In the old days they would have been out of the Bush or the Grove, but today I suspect not. Where are they from?

This is an interesting question for the club. When selling away tickets, can the club organise for a section to be sitting only? Obviously only a small number in the front or to the side. Sounds strange to say that as the predominant number of away supporters will stand but as you said there are some that have medical problems and if they are in the middle of the stand with everyone standing in front of them, there is no way they can enjoy the game as much as the others. Has this been brought up before?

never understood why you can't pick your seat as you do for home games and print them at home or have them on your phone.

If you want to sit you pick near the front, stand towards the back, would be much easier.
My back is still in agony from standing at the last 2 away games

It is against ground regulations to stand in a seated area while play is in progress. The club(s) could not be seen to condone standing by selling tickets in a "standing" area.

The game was crap, the journey was crap and a tiny minority of our supporters were crap.

I had a couple of the 2 rows behind me they were frankly an embarrassment to us all.
One of the pints thrown came from directly behind me. I would have preferred not to get beer down the back of my neck as it was launched into our own supporters.

I happily stand, though prefer to sit, but the people I sit with both have medical reasons why it's hard for them to stand up.

Feels like it's not just our support though, feels like everyone is angry at the moment or perhaps I am just getting old.

That last line definitely rings true, to me at least. We're all bored to death talking about it but lockdown has fcuked people's heads up and the impact is going to last a long time. It seems like some of us have got more angry, some have got more sensitive to people acting like tvvats, young people (however we're defining them) have taken letting off steam to a whole new mental level, etc etc etc.

There was a bloke in his 20s joyriding down our street on Saturday night - turned into our road off the A road, completely took the front left wheel off, drove around for 20 mins sparks flying everywhere, came back up the road and dumped the car where he'd left the front wheel and axle. So you'd think that's it, he's going to slope off now but no - police all over the scene and he's back trying to nick another car in the exact area where the cops are - too out of it or too reckless to think that's a bad idea. Got himself nicked before he killed anyone thankfully.

Then I wake up at 3am and there's a whole group of young lads having a fight outside after a party. All of this is in a posh area that I could never afford to buy in - seems like its happening everywhere.

I noticed lots of younger fans late teens early twneties.

I was in the side stand, next to one young exuberant lad with I think 2 mates, not sure what happened but they didnt reappear after HT.

The lad next to me I thought was probably pissed but wasnt sure.

Loads of OB but wondered if that was as there were so many of us.

4K in a 12 K attendance?

I think some of the last year will have a bearing on behaviour.

Anyone see the guy go on from the side after our goal, was on forever seemingly, got caught up, but I felt had he been quicker he'd have been on and off before anybody knew.

It's been an interesting debate, but really not answered my question. That was much more about where, in London, which neighbourhoods, estates, schools etc, do young Rangers fans come from?

How can that be answered,I guess London, Berkshire, Surrey and Hertfordshire would be the main, mostly going west broadly up to 30 miles from HQ give or take.

Suburbs and outskirts mostly is my instinct.

Along the M25 / M40 corridor from Hayes through to Rickmansworth, including West Drayton, Northolt, Ruislip, Harrow.

Although there is still a lot of inner city support in Shepherds Bush, Ladbroke Grove, and Acton I think. A mixture of posh kids and estate kids.

Would love to ask the club for a spreadsheet of postcodes actually.

Quite a lot of younger people in the Ruislip/Hillingdon area support Rangers mainly due to family connections that go back to the traditional West London places.

I've got a few mates who've moved out from the Grove to Ruislip, Hayes, Greenford, Gerrards Cross and other places along the A40/M40 corridor. Better houses, schools, the usual. Those who have kids are getting them into QPR so there's a diaspora effect for sure.

I've lived in Acton for 15yrs now and a couple of years on Goldhawk Road before that as the majority of my mates still live in and around the Grove but you'll struggle with affordable housing unless you're on a capped rent (KHT, PHT, Peabodys etc.). My 8 and 12yr old boys both 'support' Rangers but unless we're playing well and winning it'll be a struggle to keep them coming along. I want them to drag me along rather than the other way around.

I got loaned free season tickets to Brentford v Leicester yesterday and the differences between BCS and Loftus Road are about what you'd expect from a brand new stadium and one that's 60-odd years old. Free beer and pies in the Railway lounge was a nice touch. They still lost though, the melts.

It can be answered if you know a group of young Rangers fans from a specific area. When I was first going there were distinctive groups from White City and Wormholt, Askew Road, Notting Hill, Ladbroke Grove, Kensal Town, Wembley, Harlsedon, and a few from further out on the central line. I could tell you where almost every fan came from. Just wondered if there is a contemporary equivalent.

I live in Titchfield, Hants, and was there, but I’m not young! 😜
Back of the side stand right near the away end, didn’t see any aggro either inside or outside the ground, just a bit edgy which is what you want for an away game.
I had a great day/weekend just a shame about the result!

I live in Bucks on the M40 corridor which is a big Rangers catchment area most are 2nd / 3rd generation from parents who moved out of West London in the seventies.

Doubt it. In 1982 everyone walked to Wembley (all 80,000) up the Harrow Road. In 2014 there were groups from Melbourne, New York and Oslo (that I met). People move and take QPR with them.
