What a tight and enthralling match - not much between the two sides though i don't remember Marshall having a save to make. He looked very solid i thought.

Excellent Willock cross and Austin goal and Charlie's celeration at the West Brom bench was bordering on abuse!

But the game belongs Barrrrbet - immense throughout and warrior-like after the injury - just immense.

You Rs.

Think the goalie could have moved to stop that 10 minutes earlier and he wouldn't have got near it.

This team is really something special. They do things we normally don´t do. They score last minute winners, they even win when we are on Sky once in a while and also when we have dodgy refs, they score against former clubs (through many years we had formers players to haunt us again and again), all of them seem able to score goals, they look like enjoying themselves and as other posters has written today they are a very likeable bunch. Many other teams (especially Bournemouth) would have gone mad at the Barbet incident and surrounded the ref screaming "red card" at him. Instead they kept calm and went straight on to score the winner. The best possible way to respond to the ref and Dike. Job very well done again today. And please give Barbet a new contract and a pay rise!

Yes, the players knew and stopped too. The WBA goalie didn't even try because he knew it was dead

yeah, i saw the ref stop it well before but you could have had 3 buttons and none would have saved it.

Bare bones.

Delighted with our performance and that's three big points but West Brom were way below what I was expecting, injuries notwithstanding.

I'm hoping if we're in the top 6 at the end of the season they are too as there's something of the emperor's new clothes about them that makes me feel the away fixture was 3 points dropped.

yes true. He would have had to make a great save to stop it

I think you have to give credit to West From first half they press in a very particular style that is in many ways kryptonite to the way we play 2 or 3 pressing at once, flinging themselves in the tackle, keeper playing as auxiliary sweeper, we get drawn into the battle forced to play early and looking for the killer ball and it makes it difficult to put a foot on it and look up.

2nd half we were outstanding, brilliant management by Warburton, fantastic execution by the team

Phenomenal game, atmosphere, season.

Great all round performance.

For the first half hour or so i thought we looked vulnerable down the right. Did MW then change it from a back 3 to a back 4 ?

i still think with injured McCullum, we need to strengthen the right defensively to support Albert. In my opinion Albert is much better coming fresh off the bench .

Believe!!!!!!

Had to stay in the game first half, wait for them to tire and then when we get a bit more time and space up the intensity and get the points. Simple

McCallum plays on the left so not sure how that helps Albert. Grant found lots of space down the right in the first half because there is less cover there - Willock is mostly in front of Wallace regularly leaving Albert as the lone player on the right side (supported by Dickie mainly). It's often the obvious place to attack us.

I thought we handled them better as the first half went on. Willock nearly put one on Lyndon's noggin and a good save from Johansen's effort.

Once we'd done enough to match them and see that we could go further it had to have given Warbs all he needed to get them revved up.

Back out into the lights, straight into them and the crowd responded with their own gear or two extra - superb noise - people who don't normally sing were belting it out. A classic, memorable afternoon.

Exactly my view, these teams come at us but burn themselves out . Short sharp passes , keep the ball and be patient .

Based on 90' - 98' live, no highlights seen, saving myself for the full match experience tomorrow afternoon.

Thought it was a cracking game, despite the lack of clear cut chances. Thought both defences were excellent and nice to see the game played (mainly) in the right spirit, without the need for petty fouls, timewasting etc, helped by the (mostly) excellent referee (more on him later - can't wait eh?!).

1st 20', as MW, said we gave the ball away far too much and were too passive, grew into the match and finished the half quite well.

1st 20' of the 2nd half - wow! What a difference, better passing, greater energy and intensity, we (the crowd) were great and honestly think against most other Championship defences we would have scored 2 or 3.

They came back into it, especially after Dike was brought on - he would transform our team, but lets not go there!

After about 70' always looked like one goal would win it and of course the overweight, disruptive, past his best striker was the man who got it! Superb performance and result and well done again us the crowd!

Referee - As I say I thought he was very good, took time to explain decisions, seemed to have an empathy with the players and the 3/4 big calls were met with not much argument which tells you a lot. For what its worth my thoughts based on live viewing only:_

1) WBA player 'hit' in the face near end of 1st half - Didn't see it, but I liked the way Hooper got WBA capt to calm down WBA player

2) Gray 'goal' - again, like most I was admiring the finish, but again, no major moan from Gray so probably correct

3) Their 'pen' - again not a major strop from them, far end to me, so again not sure

4) Dickie yellow - an orange or 'thick yellow' as Clive calls it

5) Barbet - Again far side and AR, 4th and ref all a lot closer - HAS to be afoul, at least surely and probably reckless, so a yellow for me. Again ref did well to stop that becoming a 20 man push and shove session.

Apologies if this is just repeating stuff on other threads, but thought I would put it all in one place - now I'm off the match thread

And why was Greys goal disallowed…seemed big delay in ruling it out. Was some strike from Grey..

Has anyone got a clip of the disallowed goal? Not on the highlights and I didn't see much wrong with the challenge in live time.

But maybe evened up by their penalty shout - if that had been the other way lets face it we would have been angry not to get it.

Still, all ifs and buts - great, great atmosphere, loved today

I think I'm in the minority, but I made Jimmy Dunne our mom. I thought he was magnificent whilst Johan Barbet was "only" excellent! Sam Field gave great protection in front of them as well.

A very important deserved win where every player gave their all. I rather like this team of ours!

I'm in the club as well Terry - he was as good as Barbet for me as well.

I thought he was very good first half but regressed. I don't think he even gave a free kick for the Dike 'challenge', restarted with a drop ball to us, I think. How that can not be a foul yet Dykes gets pulled up for contact on at least two occasions, the second of which seemed minimal?

The long delay whilst Barbet received treatment, good for us, but why? I couldn't really see what was happening as everyone was stood up in front of me in SA Road F block and all I knew was that Barbet was missing. Presumably off the pitch. It seemed strange, expected him to restart play.

Its a difficult one, anywhere else on the pitch and no one bats an eyelid - so do players have an additional duty of care of near the touchline? Yes I think they do, wouldn't argue passionately against a red, but as I say FK and yellow for me, can't agree with not even a free kick.

Gave the throw in and technically yes, COULD have restarted play immediately, but then that's his match control out of the window from there on - sensible refereeing to allow the treatment.

I don't know what is right and wrong any more with the officials.....some are easy going, some give yellows for fun, some talk to players, some don't, cant make out if the ref was good, bad or indifferent yesterday, let things go and the next ref will stop it, you can kick someone and get a yellow if it isn't too hard but another will issue a straight red and so it goes on - I find it rather farcical tbh.

I'm not sure he saw the Gray incident when the WBA was on the floor, the offside stuff whereby the lion's do not flag unless the player touches the ball yet the defender has to play it otherwise the lino may not flag....its all crap basically - just put your fooking flag up for ffs!!!!

Can't tell who is right and who is wrong - changes all the time depending on what ref you have, what league they ref in, etc, etc......

Not quite as inconsistent as that, but yes they ARE human like the players, so some are 'great' certain days and 'ok' others and yes 'poor' on other days.

I AM going to pick you up on offside THOUGH - its NEVER offside if you are just standing behind a defender, back to my old friend the 1st line of the offside law

Incident yesterday whereby.......the WBA was clearly offside but our defending player attacked the ball and gave a corner away (not sure it was a corner or throw). He could have left it and it would have gone to the WBA player and then, perhaps/probably the lino would flag for offside. BUT if he did not flag or he wasn't offside then away went the WBA attacker on goal.....problems and the players/manager would have gone apeshite if they had scored or whatever.

Put the fooking flag up ffs - it was offside.

He is not committing an offence by standing there.

Guarantee if I do that in a game, referee is asking me at HT/FT, "Why did you put the flag up there"?

I get what you're saying and fans often quote 'interfering with play' or 'interfering with an opponent' but both those phrases are clearly defined in the LOTG and merely standing behind an opponent looking at him isn't classed as either of them.

Going to bore you and everyone else, so my last post on this subject, that first line of the law is there for a reason!
