We are supposedly going to get £1.5m for him leaving. Do we receive anything for the other sad blokes that think he is mister wonderful to work with?

probably not.

Though do we need yet another thread? There are almost twenty on this front page already and at lest eight on page 2.

There's a thread already about Banfield on this front page, can it not be asked on there?

Doesn't need a new thread for every permutation of question.

We are dealing with a club who went bust, then not that long ago tried to state they had just forgotten to pay a water bill worth 2mill quid.

Unless there are relevant compensation clauses in the contracts of the other departing coaches, then no.

Move on...

Why pay them for that month & waste the money?

I still maintain that that level of "compensation" is a paltry sum when you consider the level of spend commitment on Project Beale-end.

He had the summer to sort out backroom staff
He's signed players here for X number of years
He'd shaped things the way he wanted.

Now we may need to pick people out of Contracts, players he was getting a tune out of may not be happy and value decrease, the new man will want different players and things done a different way.

As somebody on this here Message Board once said... THIS is why you need a strong, experienced and switched on DoF.
Over to you Sir Les!!!!

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Sorry, disagree Lblock.

When we signed him, I dont think any of us saw this as being a bad decision. Not going to kick off against Ferdinand and Hoos for this one, none of us were unhappy with the appointment prior to Dances with Wolves. Even after that episode I actually give credit to them for trebling the release clause to better protect our equity (and to make Beale a less attractive option for other clubs). I had put down Beale's response to Wolves as being as much naivity and being a bit star struck in light of an approach. Clive's excellent article proves I was far to nice in that respect. But I think even more credit to Ferdinand and Hoos in that respect that they seem to have taken action perhaps with a very clear eye to the emergent risk.

Either way not Les's fault that the club backed the new manager who seemingly had bought into the project. If the £1.5M is true, its probably one of the better transfer outcomes that we have had in recent years.

Never knowingly understood

I didn't read it as an attack on Les, but on the situation that has developed because of beale's total lack of morals.

I thought the idea was that the DoF made sure that the players brought in had decent potential and sell on while providing cover in areas required so we wouldn't need wholesale change if the manager leaves. Paal and Clarke-Salter seem to fit that profile while Balogun clearly doesn't but is only on a short term contract. Jurys out on Richards, but might not be a bad signing, Roberts seems unlikely to turn into a full time deal. So hopefully the crisis has been mitigated a little by the work prior to Beales departure.

In our dealings with rangers did we not buy an injured Mark hately for 1.5 million get him fit and sell him back to rangers about 6 months later for 300k? Or have I got this wrong... Wiki was right

After making 218 appearances for Rangers, he moved to Queens Park Rangers in November 1995, for a fee of £1.5 million.[16] He had just recovered from having concurrent operations on his knee and ankle. Hateley said in 2021: "My dad always said to never make a decision when injured, or in ill-health, because invariably it will be the wrong decision, an emotional decision. I knew after literally ten days that it was the wrong move."[2]

In early 1997, with Rangers trying to win their ninth title in a row and with a long injury list, manager Walter Smith desperately needed a striker, and re-signed Hateley for £300,000 to play in the vital game against Rangers' biggest rivals Celtic.
