Haha. I’ll bite. Long time lurker. Occasional poster. In fact I’ve lurked so long that my username should have changed to UxbridgeRanger five years ago.

Really enjoy Clive’s articles and loads others on here.

Current opinion on the team is obviously worried. More the fact that set pieces seem to be such a problem. We’d actually be competitive if it wasn’t for that. It at the point that I think we would be better off conceding penalties rather than corners :)

But also worried by next year whichever league we are in after the loss of so many players but Willock and most probably chair especially. Oh well. On the bright side, I don’t think we need to worry about moving to a new stadium for the need of more capacity anytime soon

Hello everyone. Lurker of a few years here, massive fan of Clive's writing and the board as someone who's been living abroad for a long old time with few people to chat about QPR to who don't shake their heads and look bemused afterwards.

The last time I was able to make my way to Loftus Road was New Year's Day four years ago now for that brilliant 6-1 (ironically against Cardiff, who we lost to on New Year's this year). Things have certainly fallen off of the rails since then as I tune in every weekend on QPR+, but we must keep memories of happier times to root out this losing culture threatening to take things to new lows.

I also think it's important to stay unified and civil as a fanbase through declining results and very possible relegation. Maybe we have different ideas about what needs to happen first to change things, but places like this virtual one to commiserate, vent, remember happier times as an escape, and keep the flame of hope burning will ensure that QPR won't become a complete scourge on all of our lives.

To all in attendance in W12 every week: I hope to join all of you soon, through thick or thin.

Hello qpr-1968 for dragging me out of the woodwork.I’ve enjoyed reading LFW & Clive’s sublime editorials & sharing the odd highs, frequent lows but more importantly the laughs with you all for too long without feeling the need to contribute but no longer..The club need us & whatever happens,I’m a thick & thin believer for my sins.

Hello,

Lurked for a decade. I used to be much more active but flounced off after another bout of homophobia from the usual posters. Find some non-football related ‘opinions’ too much so keep quiet. Love Clive’s writing and he’s taken us through a lot, including some really baron runs and the pandemic. I’m proud to donate a little each month to the patron subscription. Still go to see the R’s at least a couple of times a season. Still love club despite everything and will continue to do so. Right, that’s enough, see you all in another 10 years. P.s. I don’t eat cheese, so don’t have a favourite as such, but if I did… Stilton for me!

Long time lurkers....dont be shy. on 22:32 - Jan 7 with 6164 viewsLewesRanger

Go on, I'll weigh in as well. Long term Rangers fan, for my sins. Grew up watching them in the early 80s, with happy memories of Gary Waddock running the midfield and Clive Allen and Simon Stainrod knocking them in for fun. Slightly less happy memories of going to Wembley to see us poleaxed by Oxford. Lost interest a bit in my late teens / twenties - weirdly when we were quite good - but it came back, like some kind of horrible fungal infection. I don't get to Loftus Road that much, partially due to other obligations, partly the because every time I go we get battered, which starts to set off latent OCD tendencies (went three times last year, aggregate score 0-10, not to us, obviously). This is a great forum, I've been lurking for a few years now, and Clive's writing is streets above the quality of the football he's writing about. It's a hard path being a QPR supporter...

Good to see your post Nik!

Hope you and Graham are ok. Me and Baz actually went to the Southampton game, popped into the White Horse before the game but didn't see you guys in there so moved on.

Next game we go to, I'll pm you to see if there's any chance of a meet up.

Fan since 74. used to be STH in upper loft, emigrated to NZ 20 years ago, now "run" the offical New Zealand R's supporters club (basically a facebook page and booking the table at the pub for meet ups lol)
LFW essential for us ex pats otherwise if we relied on the utter dross the club puts out we'd be watching the A league, which is like watching league 2, but in the sun

Very long time lurker here, and I think this is my first post. I’ve supported QPR since the 75/76 season (if memory serves), first match was away at Southampton with my cousin who was a season ticket holder up until a couple of years ago. We grew up in the West Country, so getting to Southampton, Bristol City was much easier for us as a pair of 15 year old lads. We even went to see the reserves at Twerton Park (Bath City) to watch Gerry Francis run out as part of his back injury rehab.

We were good once….

I’m also here because of Clive’s writing, and the odd time I do get to Loftus Road, (emigrated to Los Angeles some 30 years ago), I pop into the Crown and Scepter for a pint of Pride or two.

Frankly, it’s heartbreaking how far we have fallen as a club on all levels, yet here I still am, hoping for that upturn, and living vicariously through the match reports and this forum.

I’ll be signing up for patreon and do my bit.

Keep up the good work Clive, you have no idea much your journalism is appreciated.

Fairly long-term lurker, posted a handful of times.

Mum’s family from the Bush, she was born in Warbeck Rd so was inevitable that I’d be introduced to Rangers at the age of 7 in 1980. ST holder throughout the 80’s followed by very infrequent visits for many years until I made the ultimate sacrifice and brought my own boy along to his first match about 9-10 years ago – a 3-2 win against Leicester, amazing game to watch. Pretty much been in the upper loft as ST holders since.

Returning to Rangers coincided with my involvement with my local grassroots team, Wealdstone Youth, where I’ve coached my now U16 team since they were 6 years old and also help run the club. Very similar to supporting QPR, it ages you.

Big fan of Clive’s writing, the depth of feeling he achieves with every preview and match report is outstanding and I think one of the main reasons I enjoy this site so much.

Supporting QPR has and will always be a mixture of the very odd high and mostly lows, The way the club has been run over the last few years makes me question why the hell I keep coming but I guess we’re all going through that so this site must act as some sort of free therapy.

3 points this Sunday, I can feel it!

Yeah go on then I’ll bite as well!

I have had the occasional chat with some of you on here, met Simon a few years back when over from Aus. However I’ve never introduced myself.
I was a bit of a ‘Herbert’ /occasionally ‘lairy’ back in the day, running about in the early / mid 80’s then decided to calm things down on that front. Was a regular match goer throughout the 90’s, halcyon days! And not so regular in the 2000’s, emigrated to Aus full time 2005.

I’ve been in the fitness industry for 25 years, I’m a ‘movement coach’. I specialise in body weight and ground based exercise as well as mobility. I own a gym, ‘Primal Moves’. I’m an ‘Animal Flow’ level 2 coach, ‘ZUU’ Silver coach.

I’m a pretty big Collingwood and Melbourne Storm fan. I used to work with the Storms Boxing Coach, Jamie, and used to regularly chat with Craig Bellamy, lovely lovely man, who has been to QPR in the past believe it or not.

They , Storm, were over for the World Club Cup against Leeds I think? Were in London, decided to go to Rangers v Man U, some of the boys wanted to see United play. United (Rooney?) scored they all jumped up cheering and of course the inevitable happened 😂. Craig said they shot out of Loftus Road as quickly as they could due to upsetting the locals.

Musically, it’s all techno and prog, DJ’ed also for many years bringing some guests over from Europe for a while.

I’m also a Patreon supporter as being over here I value Clive’s writing extremely highly and it keeps me connected.

Cheese? Jacks Chedder. Awesome locally produced goodness.

My name is Paddy and I'm a lurker. I've been lurking for 12 years or so.

I'm from an Irish family who followed the Rs during their rise in the 60s & 70s, when they lived in Kilburn area. They all moved to Kent and took me to my first QPR game early 90s...i was a 13-year old Liverpool fan, and fell in love and converted on the spot.

I only get to a handful of games per season now, as I run community football for kids at weekends. Guess I don't engage on the forums as I feel like a two-bit fan compared to those who turn up each week, and esp those of you that suffer the torture of following this sh1tshow around the country.

It's a great forum with some folks whose opinions I value a lot, and now the only way to get real news & insights on QPR. The offish site, and all of the dogsh1t clickbait sites, mean that LFW is a refuge for fans like me. But mainly, like others have said, it's Clive's writing which is why I subscribe to patreon. I can't wait for every article, along with some great informed guests (those who write about tactics and club finances). I must confess to some full on man love for Clive...his writing is not just exceptional from a football perspective, but also as a social commentary. I work in charity / NHS space, and see daily how broken our public services and communities are (UK has 10 times more foodbanks in 15 years), and Clive's travel blog around England is a brilliant, funny, and poignant diary of the dire times we live in. Clive - I live in SE London too (Tulse Hill) - would love to buy you a beer some day.

The state of modern football, but in particular QPR is so utterly depressing. But like most of you I can't give it up. I guess I just hope we can turn it around given our history, our location, and in the main our brilliant fan base. I try to get my 10-year old son to follow too (taken him to 5 games - zero wins!)...but as he said to me last week "dad look how miserable it makes you...it's like a family curse".

Thanks to OP - a great idea to encourage some of us lurkers to step out of the shadows.

Why Not....!
I must hold the record for the longest lurker, must of started reading on here or on previous site around 2005 ish, have posted a few times on the Frankie Friday thread but for some reason never about the R's, probably because I spend to much time reading on here let alone posting as well...

Rangers has been in the family for generations and I started going with my Dad / Grandad and Uncles around 82 was at Wembley for the 82 cup final as a 7 year old, now its only my Dad and brother, Uncles are abroad now and are daily lurkers on this board and they survive on Clive's fantastic writing.

must confess as although a season ticket holder since 1983 (Ellerslie Road) I have only been to 4 home games this season, my poor old man has not seen us win for getting on for 2 years!
Honestly have lost a bit of heart over the last few years as I'm sure we all have and can only see a change of fortunes in a complete change in the club, New owners / structure and complete clear-out of the playing squad.

I am afraid to say I think we are done this season and can only see one outcome, nice happy note to end on!

Thanks for the Prompt qpr_1968 and Clive many Thanks for all your superb content over the many years.

Any flavored wensleydale

Cheers All

Started following with Luigi Di Canio leading the hoops, occasional post but it’s been years. Have to say following QPR since then has been full of tumult, kind of like the world in general since then, from the global recession through the rise of Trump, Putin’s chess end game, COVID, mental breakdown, divorce…well I’d like to say that my love for QPR has been a balm in these historic times but, though I love QPR, it really hasn’t been very comforting, kind of the opposite.

Yet I still can’t help but follow them, it’s almost like a soap opera that keeps my attention from real world tragedies, unbelievable miseries that just can’t kill the beast (Eagles quote, couldn’t help it, love Iron Maiden though, and the Big Lebowski). I mean, it’s comforting to bring back Ainsworth, a hero, see him keep us up, but everyone saying how he’s a zebra manager who can’t change his long-fugly-ball stripes, an undeterred water buffalo at the head of an unswerving heard heading for a river full of crocs (yes I’ve been watching BBC Earth since I just got a TV so my 12 year old daughter doesn’t feel like she’s living in a cave when she stays with me - yes, I’m trying to make her a Superhoops fan). Or that rhino that epically is captured on camera, powerfully striding across the Savannah, alone, majestic, unstoppable even as it runs right off the cliff’s edge and falls 100 feet - the locker room lost, loud boom with the crash of Dozzell’s red rage (have to say he made the other guy look laughably weak). Yet the dust cloud clears, prone, unmoving, but ultimately not dead as it stirs its massive skull and cartoonish legs to stagger back to its feet, shake the pain and painful memories away and take off once more powerfully striding across the Savannah. I thought it would rise in the guise of Warnock, like the superhero pop culture that just maybe is ending its long run of cinematic easy money. But this time something new, yes? Maybe? Hope rising once more, another story for the ages that evokes Cervantes, perhaps, unblinking and Spanish like Marti Thifuentes who somehow manages to keep his eyes, with me, on the match for the full 90 minutes.

Did Ramsey ever happen? He was manager once, yes? When was that? Do we still have to wear masks? I’ll forever hate Ashley Young for what he did to Shaun Derry. Can’t believe the fuk still plays. Cheese in the States isn’t all that, as we know, found a good one from California, goat cheese called Humboldt Fog. Dennis the Menace kit was my Christmas present.

A late addition qpr_1968...I've posted a few times on here over the years but always felt guilty for not properly introducing myself and just crashing rudely in...I'm far from a cheese expert but have recently been introduced to Gouda and I'm a fan.

Short version of the back story, started watching the R's in 1982 after not being allowed to go to the Cup Final on my own (lonely young R's fan growing up in Fulham), but allowed to go to Shepherds Bush. As with others on here, fell head over heels for the team of Waddock, Stainrod, Big Bobby Hazell (shooot)....and have been unable to shake the illness since.

Emigrated to Brisbane in 1999, had a few trips back and have managed to get at least one game in on almost every trip. LOVE this forum, the writing, the (dark) humour, the range of conversation and debate, and the knowledge that such a diverse group of people can be drawn together by our love of a blue and white hooped shirt, and occasionally the custodians who wear them.

Now that I've shared my cheese preference, I feel strangely relieved.
