Restructure in the clubs Academy structure.

Something had to be done as it wasn't producing much.

Dont know why we bother. .... but we do!

Was a lucky boy to be employed for so long especially after quickly failing as a manager.

Certainly accumulated a few bob off the club, without really improving or creating anything of any particular value or advancement.

Good luck to him.

Probably end up somewhere with Sir Les etc.

Paul Hall next, I would assume.

Is somebody finally running a finger down the payroll and asking some questions?

Would love know what his role actually was as he seemed to be doing fck all for the last few years

Not before time.

I’m sure he’s a nice bloke but the output from the academy, specifically for a club that had put all its eggs in this particular basket, has been nothing short of catastrophic.

It’s a bit late but maybe those up top have finally come to their senses.

Sounds like it. Compared to Millwall, we were overstaffed.
However, I doubt we'll be saving much. If he's on much over £100k pa I'd be surprised

Not surprised hes gone.

For me this definitely is another signal that we will see major changes happening in the summer on all fronts, including on the recruitment side of the club and in the academy as well.

Beale had him 'coaching the strikers', which was effectively bibs balls and cones with beale, banfield and the guy he brought from chelsea all above him - which is weird for your 'director of coaching' and the salary that must come with that.

Not sure what he's been doing since Beale but under Ainsworth he was always on the TV gantry at away games in touch with downstairs, and in the posh seats on the train home.

Possibly Lee Hoos, now he's a board member?

Yes, but who is the 'somebody' - surely the Director of Football's job? I guess Lee Hoos is doing everything now!

It’s hard to argue against the poor quality (if not quantity) of his work.

I hope this doesn’t mean abandoning the youth and buying young transfer policy, if we haven’t already.

We were doing the right thing, just badly.

There was no chance our old DOF was ever going to get rid of him or any of his cohorts.

This is one of the problems with a DOF, he’s just as partisan to his compatriots as any manager is to his.

Basically just another line of management.

Not his fault I suppose but it sounds like he's been stealing a living from us then

Wonder if we will ever find out who carried out the " review of the club’s Academy structure."

What do you mean by compatriots Steve? Our last DoF was English and brought in a Spaniard with a Swedish passport!

Personally I'm glad he's gone. In 9 years employment he has done nothing/very little to advance the club. Was lucky to be retained after his disasterous stint as Manager. I hope Hall is next and Marti can choose his own coaches

Wild horses couldn't drag me away...

Here we go.

I didn’t mean compatriot in that sense, I meant his mates/work mates/people he already knows. Fair enough you’ve picked me up on loose phraseology but I suspect you knew that in the first place.

Was trying to steer you away from a nasty pitfall actually, bearing on mind what’s been said before d what I’m sure you wouldn’t have meant.

I think this may be more to do with people departing of their own volition or decks being cleared…both for potential new investors coming in…

That or everything not tied down is being tossed overboard in efforts to create the funds to sign a striker this Jan.

Reading the release he was nicely pushed. Surely this has to give some hope that they are trying to free up some budget for new bodies in Jan?
