| Gerrem Onside! - Super League/NRL 2026 thread 21:10 - Feb 12 with 39676 views | MrSheen | Super League starts tonight in shocking conditions but the 4G spoils the fun, NRL just weeks away. York holding their own for the moment , I used to coach Union with a York fanatic, I hope they can hold their own this season.

Fancy the Kiwis to win this. Pack and bench for New Zealand is another level. Great finish by McLean just there. Main hope from this is Turbo doesn't pull his hamstring again

Can't fathom Kalum Watkins late call up. Decent player in his day but at 35 years old well past it for international rugby league. Canberra's Matty Nicholson now over his injury is much more suited at this level. Also Owen Trout now at NRL Cronulla would have been a far better choice than Watkins. Have to say thought Tonga might win before the news of Knowles, but you're right that is a big blow and also that bench is not as strong as Tonga's. Halasima is an absolute beast coming off the bench for them. One potential advantage for England is Koula has been out since late August and wasn't the same player after Origin III. Hopefully Farnworth and Savala could exploit that. Also be interesting to see what impact Nsemba has compared to Olakauatu. Alot of noise about him down here and what he could do. Hopefully I'm wrong and we win this as that will pretty much put us in the semis.

I'm hoping for a big game from Nsemba. As you say, little to no noise about him from the Aussies and all their press are writing us off. I think we can hold them off with Williams and Smith kicking them to death and turning their big forwards around to knacker them out. According to Mcdermott we are going to play a different style ,a bit more off the cuff with offloads etc. If thats the case, I wish Jake Connor was there.. England to shade it 28-26.

Agree with you completely about Canberra's Matt Nicholson being a better option than Watkins. I would have included Nicholson in the initial squad. He came back pretty well from his injury for Canberra at the back end of the season and is better suited to the quality of opposition that we will face later on today. How the Dolphins have released K Nikorima for the incoming G Williams is beyond me. That was the perfect halves' combination for the Dolphins. Can't see the Williams/Katoa combination being as inventive, and Katoa for me is 2nd to Cleary. To think it could have been him and Cleary (hope he recovers well to again scale the crazy heights that he has set) at Penrith! Fear today's game could get ugly by way of scoreline. Well done PNG and the London Broncos' players: Morea Morea, Voro, Kapinias & Glare.

Same. 'm going to end up in a Rampton padded cell like Mad Frankie Fraser scrawling 'Jake Connor' all over the walls with a pencil stuck between my toes. George Williams & Harry Smith are a blunted neolithic flint tool deployed in a nuclear age. Get Rid. [Post edited 17 Oct 12:09]

Yep the difference between what Katoa brings and what our halves did was stark. Agree with the change fron Nikorima and Williams for the Dolphins being a strange Choice. Hopoate had a bit of a form dip in July and early August where he couldn't catch a cold at full back for Manly but was outstanding tonight, and despite his try you could see Brimson struggle with his full back positioning (not a surprise given he played centre for the Titans most of this season.) A bit surprised Litten didnt come on a little earlier as think his running game could have caused some issues. Shame the scheduling of games is the way it is as there is now no real game to influence the semi line up until 1st November. Doesn't seem ideal as well that a team has their qualification out of their hand after the 1st game of a 3 match group.
