Ongoing trend for years. They'll live and die by how successful their web strategy is. sadly, the Mail's lowest common denominator mixture of racism and ogling 16-year-old girls "coming of age" in their holiday bikinis seems to be winning.

cant remember the last time i bought a paper; over 15 years at least

Used to love hearing the two guys at Wembley Park tube station one selling the evening news and the other the evening standard back in the 60's early 70's

If it wasnt for them holding up the paper and standing buy their little desk thingies you would never have guessed what they were selling from their selling chant

The things that Evening Standard (and for that matter Big Issue) sellers/hander outers actually say that seem to try and get everything into one syllable are quite amazing...

Why stop now, just when I'm hating it

I should imagine the Torygraph's decline is due to their readers shuffling off this mortal coil.

"Thank you for supporting Queens Park Rangers Steep Staircase"... and I thought I'd signed up for a rollercoaster.

Guardian reduced sales due to an increase in the price of Quinoa.

Not very keen on their online product but then again if it were they'd probably experience an even sharper decline.

I used to work for a printing ink (and paint) company back in the mid-late 80's.

We didn't provide newspaper ink but we did supply the ink that was used to make the filter end of a cigarette look like cork.

We sold about two tons of ink a week. This would then be diluted down at the printer (Imperial Tobacco). When you try and work out how many cigarettes that made the mind boggled.

Back on topic, newspaper are just becoming comics these days. The amount of propaganda is staggering which is worrying that the media can wield so much influence.

There was a BBC online article recently about vinyl records. A pretty much nothing article in the grand scheme of world issues but they still completely miss-quoted my boss to make something out to be more that it was. If they can do it for something as irrelevant as that, what are we being fed when it comes to serious matters?

Have to agree - reading a newspaper online is painful.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

its bad enough reading half the guff online let alone in print, I picked someone's Sun up at work the other day and its worse than the beano,, some bird called Caroline Flack and some mush off of love island and that's basically it, I skipped through it in about 2 minutes

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

Much more fun than all of the above.

Mail online traffic is massive, but down 16% YoY

For completeness...
Guardian down 8%.
Telegraph heavy fall due to them no longer counting giveaway copies.
Times gives away 90,000 a day. I wish I knew where, I don't mind reading it but I'm too mean to pay.

Rather sad really. The good thing about newspapers is not so much the stuff you already know about but finding something you know a lot less about and become a little more enlightened by reading it.

With online people tend to search only for the stuff they're interested in which maybe limits a broader prospective of knowledge.

Fortunately, contributors on this message board are much wiser and willing to embrace a wider spectrum. I'm always impressed how many of what I perceive are, if you'll forgive me, 'raving Lefties', and yet seem to have an almost verbatim knowledge of what's been printed in the Daily Mail. I salute you.

If you spend 10 quid in Waitrose you get a free Times with the Waitrose card. I normally get one on a weekend after payday which means buying about 2 pints of milk in Waitrose.

I think you can get the Guardian as well. I am generally a left of centre snowflake but some of those articles by feminists etc push me a lot more to the right.

Mrs Sheen has stopped bothering with it even for free, and she's read it since she was 14. There's only so many things she take the blame for a day.
