"If you don't relish these sorts of challenges, you shouldn't be playing the game of football."

He seems to be getting increasingly annoyed by our performances. Perhaps he thinks they have slacked off a bit. Definitely not happy with the work rate.

Never knowingly right.

Warburton needs to make quite a few changes for the Hull game.

Johansen has to be dropped. Bring in Amos.
Dickie is suspended so Sanderson gets a chance
Wallace is injured so bring in McCallum
Maybe drop Dykes for Gray

Freshen things up - that's why we have a squad

Get on the front foot

Tonight Sheff United had 22 shots and were expected to score 2.8 goals
Hull had 8 shots and only one on target.
Sheff Utd should have won but only managed a 0-0 draw.

Let's start our bounce back this weekend against Hull
Here's hoping Matt Ingram is still in goal for them.

I’d personally like to see a youth prospect put in the starting 11, Sinclair Armstrong maybe, someone with real hunger and a point to prove, it’s all a bit stale in the past few games. He’s got to change it up though, no players should turn in performances like the past 4 and expect to start.

You was doing well until you said grey for dykes on sat . Poor lazy foootballer who doesn’t fit into the team in any way shape or form , wants the ball played Inf front of him we don’t do that , haze zero work ethic ,
Amos yes for Johanson
Mccalum if fit for Wallace
Albert is badly off form another poor game tonight from him awful positioned for both goals as well
Dickie being suspended maybe a blessing in disguise he looks a shado of his early season form

Most important get some bloody pace in the team we are slow all over the pitch esp central midfield

What team would you select against Hull?

Dieng / Marshall

Albert (?)
Sanderson
Dunne
Barbet
McCallum

Field (?)
Amos

Chair (?)
Willock

Dykes

Start of the second half I thought that we needed to do something clever to win this. Instead of obsessing about one or two up top, Illy and Willy or not. I was thinking two at the back. Sanderson for Dickie (who looked like a red card waiting to happen). Odubajo to right back and substitute Adomah who was having a proper stinker. Barbet to left back. Would have allowed us an extra body further forward.

Not sure any of that would have stopped us conceding 2 goals as I thought Millwall played well.

Think he's made a mistake with this Amos thing. Great against Reading and scored, only one who came close to scoring against Swansea, barely played since. Hendrick, meanwhile, in ahead of him. Dozzell heading up to Blackburn with the U23s. Not a good message. A slip in his usual standards. Dieng should be back in instead of Marshall as well, same reason.

I agree to an extent but Hendricks is an experienced premiership player lacking game time. Need to get his minutes up and hopefully reap the benefits. Not easy been a manager

Very much goes against our "develop and sell" policy, unless he thought Hendrick will give us a better chance of making the promised land.

Any chance we can keep any of the loanees on a permanent deal? (Not Gray)

All is not lost. It is frustrating and disappointing, but not all over yet.

I’m not surprised by his comments. I said on the match thread last night that performance felt like a mid table team going through the motions at the end of the season with one eye on the beach.

Time to give the players a rocket up the backside and make some changes on Saturday.

Just listened to his post match comments. Says it's mentality rather than tiredness. Sanderson and McCallum in on Saturday should give us a bit of a freshen up. I agree with others that it's probably time for Dieng to come back in.

Warbs is the right man to steady the ship. They'll all know the last two games haven't been acceptable but while we all understandably start to panic, I'm sure he'll get us back to winning ways.

Johanson needs dropping he should have been slung off at half time Vs Boro and rested until hull.

Gray Vs Barnsley just followed dykes around like he owed him a ten pound note, in doing So made it very easy for the Barnsley back four as they seemed to marking two striker's within a 5 yard radios.

Amos needs to start.

I agree with the Sinclair comment I'd be looking at chucking a young hungry striker on especially if he has pace.

It's as if they've got through January with a lot of success, got a full squad back and now started trying to pace themselves through these on-paper easier games. Individual challenges were being plainly lost against Middlesbrough and we chalked that up to the opposition being good and on a run, but the same thing has happened in the two games since.

Combine that, maybe, with changing the one starting 11 that gave someone a pasting. It felt to a lot of us that Amos was getting dropped at a point where his season might be finally kicking on - maybe a certain number of players felt the same way.

Warbs has talked quite a lot about the 3 players who are now not in the squad but maybe that talk is because there's been some dissent about it. I'm not convinced there should be to be honest but it could also be a factor.

Agree with this although I do wonder whether they're a bit mentally tired rather than physically tired. I've said on another thread we've had several 'must win' games in a row and only just won or drawn them. We haven't really been at our fluent best, so haven't built up the momentum to really carry us through these kind of games. It's all a lot of effort and maybe they've just run out of steam a bit. We're not alone, other teams near us have had similar poor performances.

I remain mystified at not picking Amos when he looked on such good form in our previous matches. Hendrick could have come on as a sub to build up minutes. It's not that I think he's the second coming, it's just that you want to pick your form players unless they're out on their feet.

It's worth bringing on some of our squad players, like Dozzell and maybe even Ball to provide a bit of that hunger and mental energy that we've been missing in the last three games. It's not a criticisms of Johansen or Field. Just an acknowledgment that you need a whole squad to get you through an entire season.

If we can just have one decent match, we can get back on track. Start winning duels again, start to back each other up. At one point last night, someone (I think Odubajo) was taking a throw in and everyone just stood miles away from him, no movement towards the ball and he just couldn't take the throw in for ages. That's not the team from earlier in the season that was playing out of their skins for each other.

What I don't like from the fans is the habit of turning on individual players. Last night was definitely not any one player's fault, although you can point to individuals not being at their best. It was definitely an overall malaise throughout the team.

Gray isn't the problem for me. He's played fewer games than Austin and has scored one less goal and one less assist. On paper he's better than Austin, plus his finishing is better.

Our strikers need service, that's how it is and how it will be until the end of the season. We have to work with what we've got.

Johansen has to carry a lot of the responsibility, if he plays badly it has a big impact on our overall performance.

I remember Warbs talking about playing your best players and not chucking young players in when things are going bad. Fair point, but if you're going to play your best players why isn't Amos starting?

Rant/moan over.

We're actually doing fine, there isn't anything to worry about, we're 4th in the table.

Johansen didn't play at the weekend and we were no better.
Would personally get Amos back in the side and try and push Johansen further up the pitch, him and the whole team are far too deep

Saturday will be a tough game, they'll come for a point and make it hard for us and they have a goal threat as well to nick one on the break

yes but not sure where he fits into the team ?

so far has played sat back alongside field looks ok but dosnt bring much to the attacking game which is badly missing right now , think amos has been badly treated by warbs and no idea why built him up and hes treated him like this ,

few need some time on the bench sat thats for sure
but he needs to inject some pace in the team thats for sure and stop rotating the strikers as much as he has done

Might be completely wrong here but is there a chance that Amos is still being carefully managed to avoid a recurrence of his ACL injury. Could be that there’s a bigger risk during winter/colder months on tougher pitches and maybe Warburton’s managing him accordingly.

This could be it.

The players don't seem as happy or together like they were up to the Reading game. Obviously playing crap and losing doesn't help.

Maybe Amos being dropped and other players that are liked dropped from the squad has unsettled the team?
Maybe they are unhappy with the managers decisions? I'm not sure but we don't look as together as a fortnight ago. Apparently the players had a meeting after the game last night. Whatever it is I hope it is sorted out before we play Hull.
We need to bounce back and quick.
Ingram in goal for them should hopefully encourage us to shoot a lot.

He wants a response. Sometimes it is best to play the exact same 11 and tell them to show us the necessary response to a poor previous match. I would hope this happens but of course we will be without Dickie and Wallace so it can’t be the same. I think we are mostly in agreement that the team last night was our best 11 (bar Marshall) so they should go back out there and show us what they are made of.

Definitely Amos back, ( need his pace in midfield),

And time for Dieng to return, we are nearing final run in and need keeper who catches set pieces, (Marshall has been excellent stop gap, but time for first choice keeper to return).

We outplayed by better side, ( on the night), yesterday, time for changes, would leave Dyke up front, and put the young lad on the bench, and use him!!!!!

I felt that once we were 4-0 up and going to give them a severe pasting, we took our foot of the gass, switched the team around, Reading then looked to be 'us' for the rest of the match and vice versa.

Since then, lordy, we look awful.

Mentally drained? physically drained? what about the teams we have played, arent they in the same boat?
Borough for example, played very well, were up for it, and had played more games than us.

We played 2 less than others, and still some claim we are drained, knackered, shot etc...... we should be better off physically.

But no, Chair came back and we lost something tangible.

The main reason I wondered about the feeling drained angle is that we weren't doing the basics well across the park. Our movement was poor, our passing wasn't great, we weren't winning duels or picking up second ball. Our freekicks and throw ins were poor and we missed a lot of our tackles.

I don't think that can be down to one or two players.

It's not just down to number of games but also the pressure you're under. Middlesbrough have come from behind and have new manager bounce. We've had a lot more of the spotlight on us and expectation to win every match from external sources and now our fan base. A better comparison is with Blackburn and WBA, who have both faltered too.

Very easy to just pick anyone who wasn't playing and say pick them.

Before yesterday dropping Moses and Hendrick, Willock coming back and playing one up front was going to solve all our problems.......................................................
