End to end game and our midfield bossed it but we just can't take our chances which had we done this could have been a win need either new striker or existing guys to stand up. They were a bit lucky fir the first goal but the second was awful defending. They clearly have good players but small margins our team does have a lot more effort desire than last year so encouraging. Was funny to see them miss another penalty and at the end we could have sneaked a draw as we had a few chances in ET loads of Fulham in B block was rather irritating.

Compared to last Saturdays performance this was a vast improvement . We were constantly caught out on the counter attack. Their attack appeared fluid and very quick. Our defenders looked, on the whole, to be lumbering.

BBC says 25 shots and only 4 on target. That’s just not good enough. We desperately need a “finisher”.

At the Burton match I don’t think I saw Smith win a header. I only watched last nights match on TV but it seemed again that Smith won very little with his head.

Still. Last years team and the year before would have given up once Fulham’s first goal went in and would have completely capitulated when they scored the second. This team didn’t give up and so nearly got the draw that on balance they deserved.

My concern for the Sunderland match is, which QPR team will turn up and play? The Burton team or the Fulham team?

Can't score so put Gabiadini and Austin on bench. Keep faith with Long and Redmond - who are dreadful at scoring goals. Genius.

I must of been having delusional thoughts in predicting Saints to score 2 goals today in the prediction league, we play the same tippy tappa crappie as we did last year under Puel nothing has changed. We play sideways so much it's a wonder we will ever score from open play. Two teams that showed how to ruin the beutiful game today, sorry but this has to change soon or this will be a long long season.

Larry - who is the neanderthal oaf? MP? Today highlighted our weak attack - Redmond has to be dropped; Shane Long will never be good enough as a starting up front striker. Boufal showed glimpses of the attacking creativity the side needs. The failure to strengthen our attacking force in the Summer looks a huge mistake.

We only looked like scoring from open play in the last 10 minutes, when Van Dijk was playing up front, almost like what Pelle used to do.

Does anyone else think we should just start Van Dijk up top with Long or Gabbiadini or Austin?

We don't do Fridays; we don't do TV games; we don't do London derbies. It was all too predictable.
I thought Fulham looked the better side for long periods - albeit marginally. The first goal was grossly unlucky, especially how well Robinson played the rest of the game. The second was another stupid error by Lynch. Then we woke up and peppered their goal for the last 10-15 minutes. I'm pleased Conor got another goal but it was all too little, too late.
I don't think we are that far from being a decent side, especially considering the injuries we've had in central defence. But, we haven't got (and cannot afford) the sort of striker that would push us on to a higher level. The next 2 away games will show whether we will be comfortably mid table or capable of getting dragged into a relegation battle. The top 6 looks a mile away at the moment.
