Eze Thread - Sorry People !! 01:30 - Feb 10 with 2273 viewsnumptydumpty

Woke up in a cold sweat and realised no Eze threads recently.

Ever since he got a brilliant hat trick against Spurs, and had been seen as almost a starter in the World Cup for England, he has hardly been picked.

Arsenal do have a multitude of options where he can play and he has rarely even got on from the bench recently also and when he has, he has been pretty anonymous.

I can see with Tuchel generally picking players on current form, I think there is a very high likelihood that he won't make the England squad for the World Cup - which for me, would be a crying shame.

If he had stayed at Palace, no doubt he would be there and deservedly so. He had to move but again if he had gone to Spurs, he would have been picked every game too. Appreciate in hindsight, that could have been almost a step down from Palace, but again, sure he would have been a guaranteed world cup squad member.

Arsenal have such strength in depth, in forward positions, and can see Eze's move there being a failure for the lad. He may well win trophies, the premier league, the champions league, but in a similar way that Grealish's career went downhill at Man City, can see that this move to Arsenal being detrimental to the lads career.

Big fish in a small pond or small fish in the big pond.

Even, as he was an Arsenal fan, can't see how he can think now this was a good move for himself. It helped us more than it did for him.

Great shame !!!

In my opinion he chose the wrong option and let his heart rule his head, I don't think Arsenal play a system which suits his style of play.
Tottenham would have been a better fit.

I watch him when I can and to me he looks lost which is a great shame as we all know what a great player he is and can be.
I could be wrong but sometimes it seems as if team mates are reluctant to pass him the ball.
Certainly not helping his England chances.
Just hope that it comes good for him, he always comes across as a very level headed and likeable young man.

Do we get an extra £40M if/when he makes 100 appearances for them? Maybe not.

Maybe he decided that this was his only chance to be able to play for his boyhood team and that surpassed any other criteria.
He may have gone to Man City and won a few trophies and then regretted never playing for Arsenal regardless of trophy acquisition.

Kolli better than Eze?

21 today. How does that enable him to play u21 next season?

The comparison with Eze. How many sub appearances in the totals?

I really like Kolli, great skill, potential and seemingly attitude but he still has a lot to learn.

I do feel that Eze doesn't actually fit into Arteta's way of playing. There are 3-4 players ahead of him that Arteta seems to favour. I was sure he would push on after the hattrick against Spurs but it has been disappointing to see him condemned to the bench and on the rare time he gets onto the pitch, sitting so deep he can't affect play or out wide and ignored.

I can't see him making the plane to the World Cup as it stands, which is a crying shame.

Never knowingly right.

Don't remember Eze refusing to go out on loan to Wycombe?

Personally I think it’s as simple as he just turns the ball over too many times for Artera to be comfortable with. Goals from Counter attacks in the Premier league are very
Successful. Arteta does seem very controlling as well.

My Arsenal mates calls Ebs a luxury player which he maybe in that large pond. when i see him in the side, he's definitely on the periphery of the game, some nice passes and touches but not imposing himself like he did at Palace and us.

Arsenal’s main priority is winning the league for the first time in +20 yrs. If that means grinding out wins with a more conservative, back-tracking forward line, Arteta will take it every time.

Yes if they need rotation or are chasing a game, he’ll open it up. But at that level, with those stakes if there’s even a 5% higher risk of losing the ball or not tracking a runner, he won’t take it.

he basically got dropped after he didnt track back in one of their few early losses- cant remember who it was against, but it was 100% his fault. My guess is with margins as tight as they are at that level, Arteta just wont take the risk now - as someone said, they are grinding out results to win the league. he will come on and play the odd game here and there, but wont be a starter anymore this season. It may change next season though.

As for "he should have joined Spurs", seriously, if given the choice, would you!!??

Some good points here, Eze is a flair type player that's why he suited and developed that with us, further enhanced at Palace. Problem is that Arsenal sort of don't do flair players and if those of you old enough to remember Charlie Nicholas for them in the 80s, his career never really took off at Arsenal as expected. Always felt that Spurs would have been a better fit for Eze, they like flair players like we do at that club and he probably would have thrived there as the team could have been built around him, while at Arsenal they already have the players and system.

I think with Arsenal still fighting on four fronts he will continue to get plenty of game time. They seem to be playing him centrally which may be the problem of getting on the ball in congested areas.

His best work for Palace was on the left where he could get more space and time to pick passes and cut in.

Whatever happens from here on in he will always be a legend in W12 for signing that contract.

Think it always takes him a little time to settle in at a new club.

He was obviously a good player but even here it took a while for him to realise he was the main man, once that happened he was on fire. Same thing at Palace.

Whether that’ll be allowed to happen at Arsenal, hard to say, but a league title medal is fair compensation.

Eze always had sky high potential but took a couple of years for it to totally click if I recall correctly. I don't think Kolli has anywhere near the potential (high bar) but it's just nice to see some real talent coming through the pipeline

When he scored that hat-trick, Dennis Bailey came to mind. I wondered if that might be as good at it gets for him.

How many goals had Clive Allen scored before he became 21? He had already been sold for a million quid, twice, by then, back in the days when a million quid was considered a lot of money for a player.

Interesting thought.

Although, that game was a total one off for Mr Bailey. Remember going to the Saints away FA cup third round game a couple of days later and took an old boy knew at the time that said he was a Rangers fan, although whilst standing in the Dell that day, he said to me, who is our number nine he's crap.

i said he got a hat trick at Man Utd three days ago, but yeah you probably right !!

He will probably be at Arsenal for a couple of seasons, win a couple of winners medals of some sort and then realise he needs a club not competing in the champions league so that he gets regular game time.

QPR promotion next season and good start to the season and he returns to loftus !!!

Theres the third year of the four year plan sorted !!!
