Bit of game smarts there lads, seriously.
After Birmingham when we get done on a counter from our corner which flips the game, just take a yellow 1min before half-time.
Too much of a gap between midfield and defence for Saints to operate in - good to see Varane moving the ball forward, Poku's one-footedness being shown up a few times this half.
Try to stay in the game as long as we can and see if we can nick something late though get the feeling Saints will score more. | |

Well that was a brave decision........whether offside or not we got away with that....... think the ref gave a goal..........well hopefully that is a watershed moment for us
So back to the game.........if that was 0-0 I could say that as been a very entertaining half....thought we played really well today...........and seems Ronnie is cursed this season to blocking/deflecting shots straight to a scorer......
So for me I think I would bring on Kolli for the 2nd half......in place of Smyth........think we need a finisher out there

I have seen us play worse and take the lead.
Some definite high points in there - Edwards' interception to create the opportunity for Kone, Kemper's driving run, Smyth's snap shot.
If we can keep them out at the back, there's certainly enough to keep us interested.

We've been half decent. They got a lucky deflection that set up Matsuki for the goal. But payback was the disallowed for offside at the end.

Double phew! That would have been a killer.
Brilliant to see our players putting pressure on the referee to make the decision, he does look off when the corner was taken.
Southampton looking a very good side and probably should have taken advantage of some of the situations that they created. But we certainly had our moments as well and Southampton know that they are in a game.
Kemper a touch slow to react to the deflection but was likely more concerned about the Southampton player cutting inside to shoot. Great finish.
The problem with our set up is that we miss Smyth down the wing. Vale and Poku a little disappointing, Poku lacking some pace I think.
I would bring on Chair for Vale now and move Smyth out wide, hopefully Chair can give us that bit of quality needed to score a goal. Dembele for Poku later. |  | | |

The more things change the more they stay the same .Another very poor corner from us leads directly to goal/chance/second chance goals for the opposition just shocking year after year.Vale having a brutal game IMO should be off soon .
We are so reluctant to shoot passing up so many great oppertunitys just put it on the net it might fly in.
Matched Southampton all half just seperated by a ball that broke kindly for them and their guy swivled and fired home .
