Yet more paper talk about Palace discussing buying Eze this morning. If it is all true, they do seem to be showing the most firm interest. Reckon if they up their bid to around £15m to £16m cash plus add ons to £20m we may bite. Don't think it would be a bad move for him, likely to get game time and the step up in the Prem with a mid ranking club. If he improves there then possibility of a bigger club next. Got to get a decent % sell on clause in the deal.

Bazza, agree in principle that something is worth what someone else is willing to pay but it's not point in time, you have to look at it over a (short) period of time.
There's a difference between what someone is willing to pay and what they offer - in this case Eze isn't worth any more or less than he was a week ago. Palace aren't willing to pay any more or less than they were a week ago, they've just increased what they have TOLD us they are willing to pay.

That maybe your belief (hence Brian's intrinsic value argument) but it doesn't make it true. The market value comes down to what buyers are willing to pay - if the market doesn't agree with you then it can me either your perceived valuation is incorrect or the market hasn't yet caught up with your perceived intrinsic value.
What has been interesting so far is that the club are clear that they didn't need to sell Eze. Despite the Covid 19 struggles, ultimately thanks to our owners continued financial support each month. It was telling that reading some of the WHU websites they were repeating the untruth that we had to sell cheap because we were in financial trouble. That was true a couple of years ago, but now simply isnt the case. If WHU as a club had actually convinced themselves of that (perhaps some other premier clubs felt likewise) it may explain very low offers or attempts to draw out interest without actually offering a bid. That has enabled CP to steal a march on teams like WHU by rapidly recalibrating there approach when it was apparent low ball bids were just not going to work.
It would be great if that now stimulates other offers which are more favourable (I suspect that maybe more in how much us structured as upfront cash, rather than increased selling price). Ultimately a lot of this will come down to where Eze and his family will want to go. CP may work out much better for him as he probably wont need to move away from his family.
Anyway, well done Lee Hoos and co for their excellent and professional approach to this - definitely a sign of improving times.

Except that if there's an auction for Dickie, and another club offers, say, £1m up front and £1m in 12 months time, then you'd have to re-structure your bid.
In fact, if the selling club is desperate for money, a straight £1.75m (or even £1.5m) might get the player if it was cash in hand.
With this Covid-19 business, my guess is that lots of clubs will consider a Bird in the Hand to be worth two in the (Shepherd's) Bush.

Good job we appear to be getting 16 plus 3.5 possible add ons. Very fair price for someone completed untested at a higher level and who cost us nothing. And someone who gave us love ads of good memories and hopefully going with our good wishes.

We should sell to the Palace even if WBA offers more wonga.
Why? It sends a message to clubs in the future about our players. If you really want them, make the deal happen and stop playing games. Pay the price and get on with it.
So, next time instead of a club like Palace coming in for our next Eze type player at £12m, then £14m and now £16m plus reasonable addons, they will just come in with £17m and be done with it.
Hopefully, this will catalyse Moyes into paying the full monies for Manning and whoever wants BOS to stump up. The sooner we can sell these valuable players the sooner we can spend the funds on rebuilding the squad and bring the players in that we need for the future now.
Also, in this case, Eze will want Palace as less chance of relegation compared to WBA, less pressure as others will be there to support him even if Zaha goes. Better more experienced manager, London so, no cultural relocation issues. Probably more wages too. Player would be happier to move and not feel frustrated with WBA instead.

If Eze prefers Palace to WBA then no matter what the latter offers the club he will not go. Of course if they offer better personal terms then that's different. But the idea if the club had a choice they would accept the lower bid is odd.
