Hmm and he hasn't played all year, after rumours of a row with Ralph. I have also seen reports that he is going to Villa. Hopefully it's rubbish, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Be a shame if he goes

Would be utterly disastrous for us if that were to happen.

One of our few genuine Prem quality players.

Maybe.

But in our current plight, selling him would be insane.

Sell him for £20m and get Sam Johnstone in.

We are top heavy with wide midfielders.
May as well sell the best one and get a decent goalie at the club.
Hopefully then get enough draws to limp to safety.

The club looks unlikely to be sold before the end of the next transfer window so we are stuck with what we have to try and get ‘over the line’ and hope the club is sold to someone very soon who is willing/able to invest some funds

Over to you Kat and Semmens…

We thought that we had the answers, It was the questions we had wrong.

I consider him to be an excellent player but if he’s not featuring for us (the “injury” smells a bit fishy to me) then it would make sense to get a fee for him and as part of our sell to buy policy we could get a cheap replacement.

'Getting a cheap replacement' says it all about the club at the moment.
Winging it with loans and cheap players.

Wiz, you missed a word out.

We are top-heavy with sh1t wide midfielders.

He is the exception.

I agree totally chick!

Unfortunately no one will buy the others and unless we sell we don’t buy.
KWP could be sold to raise funds.
We have conceded 75 PL goals this calendar year and unless something is done to rectify this PDQ…. We are dropping down the league quicker than Katie Price’s knickers after a nostril of Bolivian.

That's because they're the ones the club can't find buyers for. If our players prove to be good enough to attract a buyer, they are sold and it sounds like they may have found one for Armstrong. So, we are stuck with the overpaid players that nobody else wants, like Shane Long and Alex McCarthy, who are then lauded for their 'loyalty.'

I agree with you, Pat: Stuart Armstrong is the best of our attacking midfielders and may prove to be one of the few players that our club makes a profit on in the transfer market in recent years. Most nowadays, have to be loaned out or sold at a loss.

It's not all doom and gloom though: we did very well to get our money back for Vestergaard.

I still wonder why people still think that it is the club who touts around the players and sells them at the first opportunity, the last 5-6 years are littered with players who have been quite happy with their lot and signed long term deals and then the first big club that comes sniffing they want to go.

The reality is that no one has gone to a club that hasn't been much bigger than us and/or hasn't offered far more money ala Danny Ings to Villa.

Stuart Armstrong is one of our best midfielders now, but people have short memories and he was slaughtered in his first season for us, only started 16 games and was lambasted by the fans for being one of the "sh*t midfielders"

His second season saw him start just 19 games and 11 off the bench and he came good only in the second half of that season.

Last season was his third and the first in which he was truly first choice.

We are suffering now for the policy a few years ago of signing players up to long term deals that they were not worth, the transfer policy of the last few years has been good, the likes of Kyle Walker Peters, Livramento, Salisu, Che Adams, Diallo even Adam Armstrong have been astute signings, we have also made good use of loan signings including Broja this season.

Time to stop harping on about what has happened in the past and concentrate of what we are trying to do going forward.

We drag our club down on social media with delusions of what we think it should be and not the reality of where we are in the pecking order in a Premier League that is now all about the ability to generate money.

Agree with most of that Nick although not about the fans saying he was rubbish when he joined.
Fans react to what they see. When he joined he looked off the pace and this was backed up by the manager not picking him. If you don't play well then the fans call you s h it. That is the way of things.
When he starts to play better then he rightly gets the recognition.

He does look like one of our better players now although he has never managed a sustained period of games without being dropped or injured. I would hate to think that he will leave the club due to issues with the manager. It's Ralphs job to find a way to manage players. If Villa make a huge offer and he wants to go then there's little we can do although I wouldn't let him go in January.

Most rumours are b/s. Apparently Armstrong and Adams are both back training now which hopefully will stop the conspiracy rumours for a while.

All the following either have, or can play on the right side of midfield !!

Walcott
Redmond
Armstrong S
Tella
Valery
Long
Livramento
KWP
JWP
Smallbone
Djenepo
Elyounoussi
Could probably play Adams and Armstrong A wide right too !

On a positive note, our 2 Scotland Internationals, Che Adams and Stuart Armstrong have both returned to training and could feature on Boxing Day.
