| Swansea City v West Bromwich Albion : FA Cup match day thread on 18:11 - Jan 11 by swansjack84 | Dont get me wrong. Yalcouye penalty was bad. But not sure its gonna help highlighting him and the teams general predicament will help. Facts are Facts. Yes. And we should of put that game to bed. But I'll take that performance over anything we saw under Sheehan. Alot to learn but we need to take the positives. |
Galbraith missed a couple of relatively easy chances, not even hitting the target.

Forget the goal which was sublime but his overall game was out if this world. I hope they don’t drugs test him😂. Ronald also played above his normal level which is good to see. But we are still lacking the fluidity I’d like to see. Posing it around the back with little idea as to what to do with it. That improved in the second half and ET but it’s something thst needs working on. Hitting the post when it’s easier to score is also something that will hurt us in future games. I was right in line with it but from a distance but all I could see was the back of the net. It seemed at times there was a force field around the goal. As for the pens, I’m glad it didn’t come down to just Bobby Wales missing. But we were given reprieve we didn’t take advantage of. Shame, but there you go.

Very True. Look its all opinions. Yes we all know Wales and Yalcouye should of done better. But on another day, Yalcouye post shot would of gone in. Casey Header and also Galbraith fluffing one. I am not saying anyone is single playwrs out, but I think the team needs fans to get behind the team when we lose like this. And not do social posts like this. Love the Indy always have done. And maybe I'm putting my neck out. But tad unfair. Opinions I suppose.

I'd say decent performance, poor 1st goal to concede, we looked improved today in patches but our final third problems continue.

If I was going to be hypocritical then Fisher was poor in goal. That first goal was shocker. Flapping his hands about. And his lack of penalty saves. If anyone should be on a social post to critism its him. But anyways. I'm proberly reading it wrong. As its fact being stated. Who knows

Agree with you on Eom and Ronald, both played well today and I thought Widell got stuck in and had a good game too ,Zan laid some nice balls off as well I’m with you on the faffing about at the back and the ponderous goal kick nonsense,it was cringing to watch,I’d hoped we’d seen the back of that when Sheehan left everyone around where I was sat were going crazy about it ,all it achieved was to slow the play down so WBA could mark all our players up ,press us so we put ourselves under pressure for no reason…please let that be the last time we have to see those tactics, just get the ball forward quicker because we look a good side when we do I’m not blaming anyone for missing a penalty , at least they have the balls to take one ,and it’s basically a lottery anyway On WBA I didn’t think they were as good as they were in the league game and we created a lot more chances because of it but they changed their lineup too so maybe that’s the reason

Meant to add that we took our foot off the gas for a period in that second half and let WBA back into the game and they scored it was as if we thought we’d already won the game We turned over possession far too easily in dangerous positions , especially Yalcouye and we messed about with the ball trying to be too clever at the back instead of of just clearing it upfield Definitely a game we could and should have won convincingly | | | | Login to get fewer ads

| Swansea City v West Bromwich Albion : FA Cup match day thread on 19:50 - Jan 11 with 1700 views | RichardO | A game hat after we started well we got pressed and lost our momentum in the first half, started well in the second half but again let a lead slip, but then again so did WBA in extra time . We could do with more movement and play the percentage stuff further up the pitch. Our two goals were created with good movement and taking the right options not rushing the pass , switching play through the middle of the park giving the goal scorers time and room to finish well. Disappointing goals to give away goals the way we did. Little things are looking better more chances but we do need to look at the keeping the ball tactics when we are in possession of the ball high up the park especially at throw ins, we let teams get back into shape instead of getting the ball into our players in the opposition's box quickly. I thought we were unlucky not to get a penalty but good play resulted in at he good chance that hit the post. The ref looked as if he was going to blow but we made the opening and he played on because we had the advantage. | | | |

I would argue we need to learn how to be more ruthless in the final third. We missed so many chances. We should have won the game in 90 mins.

Can't argue the fact we need to be more ruthless in front of goal but it would seem as if we are getting more players and the ball into positions to score where as we have previously been starved of chances or had no-one on the end of good moves.

This is the key. It's getting the players into the positions where they can score, and generating the mindset where they're prepared to take the chance instead of endlessly recycling possession. Vipi has done about as well as we can possibly have hoped for, but even a lot of his goals have come from situations where in seasons past he'd have had a bollocking for even trying it. We need more goals from both flanks and AM to complement that. Widell contributes superbly to the press and I think there's a lot more to come from him creatively, but he should be off the mark by now. Ronald gets into enough good positions that his goal tally should be double what it is. Ditto Eom. We're not quite clicking yet, although we're clearly a helluva lot better than we were at the end of November.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

| Swansea City v West Bromwich Albion : FA Cup match day thread on 07:57 - Jan 12 with 1035 views | streetlyjack | An encouraging performance in most parts despite the defeat yesterday and our inability to put away our chances, my take away was: Positives - 23 chances created, that must be the most for some time which is a step forward - Ronald beating his man and getting a few crosses in, lets hope this continues.... - Eom, looks a lot sharper and dangerous cutting in - a super finish! - Casey looked solid enough and deserves another chance - Minutes for Ward who clearly looked rusty after months out, confident he will offer us something however. - Widell is improving game by game Negatives - The final third, we cannot seem to knit together good build up play with creating clear cut chances....Vip looked a bit sluggish yesterday so not sure if he's carrying an injury? - Another set piece goal conceded, Fisher clearly at fault for this. - The game continues to pass Franco by in the main, no real contribution made yesterday once again? Hopefully with a few more weeks of quality training Matos can add further improvements so we can start to put the full game plan together. Certainly worth considering getting in another striker even if on loan as we are screwed if Vip gets injured. | |

Both our goals came from playing the ball to feet in a controlled manner with good build up play and support or runners available off the ball, moving the ball quickly, surprising how fast it can go on the floor catching defenders in a quandary , good precise goals

When we move forward quickly we look really good and threatening but yesterday for periods we were slow at the back giving WBA time to press and mark our players up ,we need to vary our goal kicks and stop the faffing about inviting the press and putting ourselves under pressure

I said on here some time ago that one of the best ways to beat a defence is by quick fast passing . There were one or two one touch give and go's - one leading to a shot that nearly went in by Yalcoue it left the Albion defenders totally static. Yalcoue seems a natural at instigating these and to me is a very valuable asset coming off the bench against a tiring defence or like he was last night thrown in from the start The other thing is the finishing - which reminds me of the old golf adage - You drive for show but putt for dough. It's the hardest thing to do on the pitch and that's why good quality strikers are co costly. It is one thing to put the ball in the back of the net in a training routine with no pressure on you it's quite another to do it under extreme pressure in a white hot encounter with defenders bearing down on you. I feel it is difficult to replicate the intensity of a match situation in training but to me all our players have to practise the art of finishing under as much pressure as posible to get as close to that split second of precision needed in a match.
